I never heard of edamame until I had a McD's Asian salad one day and wondered wtf are these overgrown peas in here?

About 7pm last night, i was getting pretty well buzzed, and decided to heat up a bag of those damn cajun peanuts...

put the entire 5lb bag in a pot, and put maybe a quart of water in, thinking it would boil quicker with less water.

came back out and started looking at shit for the game, and forgot all about them....holy shit, nothing in the world smells worse than scorching, boiled cajun peanuts.

this whole house still reeks from that shit.

bad enough i'm eatng leftover waffle house this morning...combined, the smell is just about unbearable..

I ran to the flea market to get a big ass bad of cajun and salted boiled peanuts to get me through the late games, and, fat mary was all out of cajun, so, i broke down, and tried the 'garlic' boiled peanuts.

Always though that sounded disgusting, and the smell ain't exactly appealing either, but, i was desperate...

Man oh man, these things are friggin awesome......I think i like them better than the cajun actually.

Glad the wife is headed out for the week......Now i can just sit and chill and scarf down boiled peanuts for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next 2 days..

for those of you who don't frequent the deep south,
this is the kind of place you find boiled peanuts...

Well there's definitely a certain George Costanza type imagery going on here, and I would like to state for the record just like George and his cheese I do find disturbing that eating unbridled amounts of boiled peanuts is some how tied in with a kind of bachelor's paradise.

Well just made roaster pumkin seeds (picking up cheap pumkins after halloween and love pumkin seeds that aren't the caked in salt store ones). Guess we can call that the northern boil peanuts ;-).

wow, can't believe my kids didn't bug me for pumpkin seeds this year. How do you do them MRW? I usually let them dry out a bit and soak them in kind of a chex mix/ worchestershire sauce brew, and maybe sprinkles of sea salt. My kids love them but I remember a neighbor lady making them when I was a kid and hers blew mine out of the water.

Nice pic, btw. :) Our local "general store" used to have "chicken worms and movies" on the banner around their gas pump canopy.

BG, those are not "rides" anymore. People live in them, trust me.

Basically rinse them dry them salt them and a little pam spray. Roasted at 400 for about an hour. I like them dry so I only use the cooking sprays not butter (as they come out too greasy because the butter just lays on top of the shells and isn't absorb)
