“Crown attorney Joyce Dalmyn said Vincent Li has received the threats in the past few months while confined to the forensic psychiatric unit at Health Sciences Centre,” says the Winnipeg Sun.
“She would not elaborate on the nature of the threats or on who was making them.”
McLean’s parents are suing the company, the Canadian government and Vince Weiguang Li (right), the man who killed him.
Together, they’re seeking $60,000.
Eleven other family members each want $10,000 but, “This lawsuit is not about money,” the Winnipeg Free Press quoted lawyer Jay Prober as stating.
“It’s about getting answers, so that his death might not be a total waste … that there might be some good to come out of it.”
Li is charged with second-degree murder and his case was brought forward in Portage la Prairie Court of Queen’s Bench yesterday and put over until November 21, says the Toronto Star.
But Li didn’t appear.
“There aren’t any security measures in place in either the Queen’s Bench courthouse or in the provincial court in Portage la Prairie,” the story has Dalmyn stating. |  |
