Pretty sure Rush may have done this one originally: 'Xanadu'

You guys are going to the wrong theaters! Go to Regal, only. You can get a pager (1 per theater) and get 20 movie points just for being the hall monitor for the movie you're watching. The pager has 4 buttons on it, one being for "disturbance." You don't have to say anything to anybody, just push the button and an employee will come to your showing and stop any BS. Plus, just for doing it you get the 20 points that get you free popcorn, movie tix, etc. The pagers are available for anyone with a Regal card to use (weekend shows only).

It's funny, I spoke with a friend last night who said that Heath's performance was amazing and made the title character seem like a supporting actor, and the movie review I just read agreed. They disagreed sharply on the love interest, however: my friend couldn't remember the name of the replacement for Katie Holmes, but said it was a big mistake in replacing her. The review said the replacement, Maggie-long-name-that-starts-with-a-G was much more convincing than Mrs. Cruise. All I know about her is that has kind of a weird face and I saw her in some movie where she played a felonious single mother with the saggiest boobs in the history of cinema. Did she seem right for the role? I enjoyed the first one and like Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldham (understated, for a change) in their small but important supporting roles, but I won't see it in a theater for a long time, if ever-I can't stand crowds, either.

Great movie, but I thought Batman Begins was slightly better with a more compelling storyline, why Batman became Batman. Ledger was great as The Joker, but I thought the actor who played Harvey Dent was every bit as good, and Bale is fantastic in his role. I thought Katie Holmes was the only weak link in the 1st movie, and Maggie gave a better perormance in this one as Rachel Dawes.

definitely worth it, the tracking shots are done in IMAX and a few of the action sequences are done in IMAX. its amazing. and its why I own shares in the company and would recommend it. this is where filmmaking is headed, especially once the movie Avatar comes out (James Cameron's next movie...hasn't made one since Titanic).

Best movie since The Departed in my opinion..

Movie had one of my favorite scenes ever when Ledger walked out of the hospital and in to the street. Amazing performance.

I went in to this thinking it was going to be an over hyped waste of time and only had the big publicity due to Ledgers death but I was entirely wrong. Bring on chapter 3.

I have been waiting to see this movie at the Imax in San Diego. Was going to go today, but all of the shows were sold out except for a 10pm and a 1am. Will see it in Imax sometime this week

Man, it is insane how much money this flick is raking in....

Quote:
Continuing to shatter box-office records in its second week of release, “The Dark Knight” earned an additional $75 million this weekend in domestic ticket sales, bringing its ten day total to over $300 million.

Expected to pass the $400 million mark by next week, according to Warner Brothers Studios head of distribution Dan Fellman, “We've been getting a lot of repeat business coming in.”

“Our audience is expanding, like you would expect with terrific word-of-mouth and strong reviews", Fellman went on to tell the Associated Press. "Our audience is getting a little bit older, that's the good news. We're finding the younger demographic, male and female, coming back."

Having already broken records for biggest midnight opening, biggest single day earnings and biggest opening weekend, Sunday’s $300 million, ten-day tally surpasses the record set by “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” in 2006, which took 16 days to make as much.

Leaving short-term records set by films like “Dead Man’s Chest”, “Star Wars Episode III” and “Shrek 2” (the previous record holder for strongest second week box-office) in the dust, “The Dark Knight” is now a heavy favorite to surpass the reigning champion of total box-office receipts, writer/director James Cameron’s 1997 film “Titanic.”

"The `Titanic' record has sat in a lock box for 10 years”, Media By Numbers president Paul Dergarabedian told the AP. “It's a tall order, but if any film has a chance to surpass that number, it's got to be `Dark Knight.’”

Grossing over $600 million in North America and over $1.8 Billion worldwide (a record no film has come even close to reaching), “Titanic” also holds the current record for highest grossing 4th – 12th week release.

"We're in unchartered territory” Imax Filmed Entertainment Chairman Greg Foster tells Variety. “These are unprecedented numbers for us, and most shows continue to be sold out. We continue to add shows.”

it'll probably land at around 510m...still the second biggest movie of all time. I'm guessing this is going to get a very big push from WB for the Oscars (Supporting Actor, Director, and even Picture)

Gonna be close...It's all gonna come down to how many kids keep going back to see it again during the summer break really.

I'm sure Ledger will at least get a few nominations....Hell, the Oscars and GG's would probably nominate him now even if they didn't really want to, just to get a new audience tuning in for the telecast.

Finally saw it last night...great freakin movie. Thought Ledger did a perfect job as the Joker. If you haven't seen it yet, it is one of the few movies that is worth the price of admission.

I liked it b/c it did not get too cartoonish. I guess if i was nitpicking, my biggest complaint is Maggie Gynlenhal is not that hot and they could have done better casting that role.
