A Pick 6 Carryover of $1,186,625 from Belmont Stakes (gr. I) day at Belmont Park attracted another $3,217,655 June 11, creating a non-Breeders’ Cup New York record Pick 6 pool of $4,404,280. And, when favored Ten Forty came home in the ninth race, 29 winning tickets were worth $103,754 each. None were sold on track.
Four winning tickets were sold in Southern California and off the Ontario, Canada hub. The Portland, Ore. hub sold three and two tickets were each sold by America Tab, Catskill OTB, Las Vegas and New Jersey Hub. New York City OTB, Express Bet, Ohio Hub, Emerald Downs, Calder-Gulfstream Hub, Chicago Hub, Kentucky Hub, Laurel, Eastern Hub and Charles Town, W. Va. each sold one winning ticket.
Additionally, there 2,360 consolation tickets (five of six) worth $255.50 each.
The Pick 6, a $2 minimum wager in which the bettor must correctly pick the winner of six consecutive races, started in Wednesday’s fourth race at Belmont Park when My Dinah ($6.90) scored the win. Two bombs followed with Youbethecan ($21) and Willsboro Point ($47.80) in the fifth and sixth, respectively. Myakka ($5.30), Penington ($9.20), and Ten Forty ($3.70) closed out the card. The winning numbers were 2,7,6,9,5,10.
In 2005, Belmont Park hosted the Breeders’ Cup and that day, the total pool of the Breeders’ Cup Ultra Pick 6 reached $4,856,700. There were no tickets with all six winners. There were 40 correct tickets with five winners for a payout of $90,325.
Hollywood Park holds the North American record Pick 6 pool of $10,870,852.60 on July 2, 2007. That pool was generated by a record four-day carryover of $3,274,505.48 and a record single-day Pick 6 handle of $7,596,347.12. |
