Default Saprissa v Pachuca

1rst leg of the CONCACAAF Champions Cup, live at 10:30 on the Fox Soccer Channel.

The "Purple Monster" is almost unbeatable at home, but Pachuca has a bevy of fast and talented ballhandlers and passers. Should be a fun game.

Heck of a game it was. I think the Purple Monster got a tuff road now, playing at Pachuca

Late Goal Hands Lifeline to Costa Rica Soccer Team

agree 100%

Tough for Saprissa to win at Pachuca against a much faster team in the high altitude. They did pull it off a few years ago in a similar situation against Pumas, but I think this Pachuca team is much better than that Pumas team, and I look forward to a better effort from Pachuca in Japan this year than last year, assuming they will be CONCACAF's representative.

Pachuca's weakness is defending set pieces, they are awful at that. So I look for Saprissa to try to exploit that in the 2cnd leg. Saprissa are a gritty bunch, but ultimately, i think Pachuca wins the trophy.

They STILL miss Mosquera in defense, especially on sets, because they need his height and header clearances.

Still, having survived in CR (hated giving up that last minute goal), they have a big chance at home. I just don't think they'll have a bigger chance than the line will allow. Should be another good game for them, and if they can win and go back to the Worlds, they should show better than last time. Can't show worse, anyway.
