UNLV Fans Hit Hilton Sports Book For March Madness

KTNV LAS VEGAS

With the UNLV Rebels still in the March Madness tournament, time gets taken to a whole new level.

Action News reporter Ben Deci went to the Hilton Sports Book Friday night to find out how people are prepping for Saturday's game.

For so many, a Las Vegas trip for the tournament is tradition and having UNLV in the tournament is two years toward becoming a tradition too.

Even if, some fans find their loyalties divided.

Jay Kornegay said, "I think you are gonna see some Kansas money coming in and UNLV money."

Matt Llewellyn explained, "When I filled out my bracket I totally thought we would be together, yeah."

One K down, the number one K still to come.

Hugh Carter said, "We were actually rearranging our flights because we were flying out toward the end of the game and that just cannot happen."

Hugh and Matt are in a strange position, they graduated from UNLV, but both are Kansas folk.

"It was too hard to put money on this. I don't even know what the line is," explained Llewellyn.

"I think it is going to fluctuate," predicted Kornegay.

Jay Kornegay with the Hilton Sports Book says look for money from both sides to move the point spread around.

"I think the odds makers are giving UNLV some support and some due respect," explained Kornegay.

And if Hugh and Matt are not betting the game here Friday, that puts them in the minority.

But then, as Kansas fans in Las Vegas, being in the minority is a position they will have to get used to.

"Yeah, so far though it has been pretty mild," said Carter.

"I have been given no problems so far, nobody's roughed me up or anything," explained Llewellyn.

All that will get saved for a court-of-ball Saturday afternoon.

The numbers are not official.

The book was as busy as always this time of year.
