| "All the US has to do is ban tourism to Antigua." Utterly inconceivable. For one thing, it would mean they'd have to explain everything to the American people. As things stand, 99% of Americans have no idea any of this happened. The "government" won; why would they want to escalate, when they got everything they wanted?

| "As things stand, 99% of Americans have no idea any of this happened." Actually, 99% of Americans have no idea of what an "Antigua" is: A small violent island (5 times the murder rate of Manhattan and counting this year) which has played host to miscreants from Gerald Bull to John Allen Mohamed for the last 30 years. I think it would be funny as hell if they tried to infringe on US copyrights. Imagine it: Microsoft disables every Antiguan copy of Windows when they use the auto-update feature.... Hollywood produces a hit film portraying Antigua as a nest of drugs, murder and political corruption. (I know they don't usually specialize in documentarys in Hollywood, but I'm sure someone will make an exception.) And don't even start to think about what Metallica could do to them !!! (The average Metallica concert is larger than the population of Antigua. Thats in every major city... worldwide... can you say denial of service on a "national" scale" ??? Since the British kicked them out of the empire 20 some years ago, Antigua has limped along on their "tourism industry" and now they're about to throw that all away. Watch a "country" self implode over 21 million dollars. Get me my popcorn... |

| i find a lot of americans witht that same attitude that what america wants it does and screw everyone else. yet when other countries like north korea or russia take the same attitude the same americans condemn those countries saying how dare you think you can do what you want. that' especially true with countries in close proximity to the u.s. i think it started with the concept of manifest destiny. mind you, i find many more americans who are disgusted with the approach the government has been taking of late. what so many americans don't understand is that to keep this feeling of superiority they are sacrificing so many basic rights for themselves and lately their standard of living also. |
