Dallas Cowboy fans hope Jessica Simpson never comes to another game. While she watched from a luxury box - wearing a pink Cowboy jersey with his No. 9 - her boyfriend of a month, quarterback Tony Romo, had one of his worst games ever Sunday as the Cowboys lost at home to the Philadelphia Eagles, 10-6.

Romo has never had trouble with the ladies, but now he's clearly fixated on one of the country's most dazzling beauties.

According to a good Big D source, Tony Romo has been told to put his romantic life on the back burner at this critical juncture near the end of the regular NFL season. I also understand that at least one team official has suggested to Jessica Simpson that it would ''be in Tony's best interest,'' if the couple cooled it for a few weeks Simpson, however, is laughing it all off, claiming she is just as anxious as other Cowboys fans to see her guy lead the team to the 50th Super Bowl championship. Not surprisingly, Jessica's all-controlling dad, Joe Simpson, expressed to the Cowboys crew sentiments similar to his daughter's but only, uh, in a bit more colorful language. -- Chicago Sun-Times

IRVING –

When Wade Phillips went to practice Wednesday, he did not expect Tony Romo to throw any passes because of an injured right thumb.

Not only did Romo take part in a full practice, he was able to make all of the throws, which led Phillips to believe Romo will play Saturday at Carolina.

During the portion of practice that was open to the media, Romo appeared to be cautious with his passes. Phillips said Romo did not take a snap from center, working only from the shotgun.

Romo felt a little pain on his follow through, said Phillips, who added, "he seemed pretty accurate as far as throwing the football."

Phillips does not believe Romo, who has not addressed the media since Sunday, will need a pain-killing shot to play Saturday.

Because Romo was able to participate fully, backup Brad Johnson did not see extra snaps with the first team.

JESSICA SIMPSON's new boyfriend TONY ROMO has forced his American football teammates to apologise to the singer after mocking her in a radio interview.

Romo's Dallas Cowboys' teammate Terrell Owens told a U.S radio station Simpson was not "a fan's favourite" and blamed her for her beau's lacklustre performance on Sunday (16Dec07).

But Romo ordered Owens to apologise after Simpson became upset by his words.

Owens explains, "I guess she was kind of upset about it. I just told (Romo) I would do whatever I can to rectify the situation. That's about it.

"I was just kind of explaining to him what kind of happened during the course of the (interview) session. I kind of told him what was said, and he kind of expressed what Jessica had told him.

"I was like, 'Look, dude, it wasn't meant like that. Everybody was having fun, and I was saying what I had to say. There it is, it's a big story."
