I can't read your post Gyps, as I haven't been able to watch the recording yet. It seems football recordings supercede any other programs in this house, but maybe I'll have a chance to FF through it later. :)

Out of the 3 I actually thought he was the "best". He was honest about his sleaziness, and wouldn't have been in the final 3 without all the conniving. I tried to root for the lunch lady, but honest to God, she was as dumb as a 2-headed chicken. The queen-for-a-day 50k they tossed her at the finale kinda made me cringe in embarassment, but oh well.
Just happy it wasn't Courtney.. what a eye rolling bitch she was. Also glad James got the 100k "Rupert" award, though no Rhodes scholar either. :)

i was pullin for James, eventho he was dumb as a box of rocks. i mean c'mon, you can't add 1/idol + 1/idol played at tribal council equals bein in final four?

he was a true survivor by my idea of what a survivor is. worked hard to help the tribe, and competed like a lion. the weaklings that win by their deception, backstabbing, and lies i really cant stand.

Same with Denise, Gyps. She was a mule around camp while the cutesy youngins seemed to do squat. Hard to believe she put her faith in ability to win an immunity challenge to get her into the final 3. That last one is traditionally some sort of stand on a stick in a swamp for 30 hrs with the sun beating down on you challenge, and the lightweights (girls) almost always pull it off. Which reminds me.. why was amanda the only one of the 4 with the brains to wear a lid that day?

Amanda was a sharp cookie wearin that floppy hat. she knew that particular challenge was about due

What ticked me off about Denise was she was constantly playin the pity-me card, and that $50k at the end was wrong, only reinforced her playin that card the rest of her life ...

I hope James is in the next one. Maybe he'll smartin up this time? nahhhh

(he's really a sweetheart tho)

Amanda was really impressive in the last two challenges, especially putting the bowls upside down. Couldn't believe how she blew it by voting off Denise instead of Todd.

Thought this was a very weak season. My wife and I repeatedly noticed there was no one clever enough or sympathetic enough to root for. Denise didn't seem to understand how to play. James was a moron, plus who roots for muscle? Todd was a weenie who let James steal two idols from him. The poker player was a jerkoff. Courtney was creepy. Guess I liked the Chinese girl a little, but the show gave her a big advantage in several of the Chinese-related challenges. Thought the virgin guy was OK until it became obvious that he was a virgin by choice, not just bad luck, which is double creepy.

The show needs to get a lot tougher. Instead of the high-school-election stuff, let players voluntarily leave the show because they'll die if they don't.

my wife just wandered in here, and changed the channel over to Survivor???

wtf?

didn't the last season just end recently??

what are they doing now, just ending one season and starting the next immediately or something?

seems like there used to be quite a long break between them, but, i could swear i just suffered through one "season finale" a few weeks ago at the most..

oh..

a few of the chicks are kinda cute.

No, apparently it's brand new...I think.

Quote:
One quick thing to dispel about the new season of "Survivor: Micronesia" (tonight at 8 on CBS/2), which pits fans against favorites.

To be a "favorite" does not necessarily mean you had to win "Survivor" from seasons past or even be a crowd-pleaser. Quite the contrary, some not only lost but stretch the definition of the word "favorite."

Take (please) Jonny "Fairplay" Dalton, who helped make "Survivor: Pearl Islands" so memorable (and who's now effectively a professional reality star). But favorite? Probably not to Danny Bonaduce, who allegedly assaulted him last fall during the taping of a reality awards show. Or to Jeff Probst, whose brother reportedly got in a fight with Jonny as well.

Then, there's favorite Yau-Man Chan, the computer engineer from California who really was a genuine fan favorite after his gutsy "Fiji" performance. But Yau-Man came in no better than fourth.

Meanwhile, Tom Westman, among the most memorable winners in "Survivor" history and an indisputable fan fave, won't be one of the "favorites" either. That's by his own choice, which you can call either a wise career choice or perhaps just a simple act of personal dignity.

Westman - still living in Sayville with his family and now working as an executive with Hartford Insurance Co. - said by phone, "I've got a year invested in a career," then added with a laugh: "The bottom line is, no one's going to give you the money the second time around." (Go to newsday.com/tvzone for a catch-up chat with Tom.)

"Survivor," now in its 16th edition, has an equally amazing ability to continually reinvent itself, even if that reinvention involves a bit of self-parody and semantic flights of fancy.

This season's gimmick is both: The show has summoned genuine names that will be recognizable to hard-core fans. But for the most part, they're not particularly well-known to the casual viewer.

The season works thusly: Ten "ultra-fans" - presumably people who live/sleep/eat/breathe "Survivor," will go to Palau (yes, again) where they will face off against the favorites.

Tonight's "reveals" should be worth watching because these fans assume they're facing off against other fans, not 10 people that they idolize.

Same with the "favorites": Their assumption is that they'll be up against other "all-stars."

No such luck. This will be perhaps their strangest nightmare instead - they'll be up against fans. Why this twist?

For one, the obvious. As mentioned, this is a show that needs to constantly reinvent itself; plus the faves know how to play, while the ultra-fans are greenhorns. CBS helpfully points out, however, that the greenhorns know how the faves play, but the faves don't know how the greenhorns play.

Meanwhile, here are the rest of the favorites: James Clement (China); Ami Cusack (Vanuatu); Cirie Fields (Panama); Amanda Kimmel (China); Ozzy Lusth (Cook Islands); Eliza Orlins (Vanuatu); Jonathan Penner (Cook Islands); and Parvati Shallow (Cook Islands.)

glad yer happy, cause i am too now that he's gone. pfftt! he was the first one to start whining within 5/mins of the show being on.

everybody else i'm all good with. dont care one way or the other what happens now ... unless they screen out the cleavage like they did last year.

did they do that back there, put the 'smudge' over cracks, cleavage, etc like they did here in Washington? this state is so prudish i blows me away ...

Gyps, I think the smudging is for actual nipple slips or excessive ass crackage... not sure?

I was glad the fans won the challange as it seemed like it was setting up to be yet another impossible to beat team vs do-do's scenario. The whole Johnny Fairplay deal was weird.. of all people to get homesick and snively! There sure seems to be a lot of coupling going on this time around too.
