Cool US Banks Still Servicing Online Casinos

(i use my Visa no problema at several places)

Americas Watchdog has released the findings of a report on the ‘Involvement of US Banks and Major US Credit Card Issuers in Internet Gambling’ and have discovered that not all companies are adhering to the guidelines of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), introduced to the US in October 2006.

Following a 10-month investigation Americas Watchdog has revealed that some of the US’ most prolific credit card/debit card issuers and US banks continue to fund off-shore 'casino' activities, although the UIGEA makes it illegal for banking facilities to accept money transfers to and from online gambling sites, effectively making Internet gambling illegal for US citizens.

As part of the investigation, Americas Watchdog used the services of four leading online casinos from November of 2006. These were a UK-based casino (call centre), a South African casino and two Antigua-based casino/sportsbooks.

All four casinos were seen to be contravening the UIGEA by accepting US custom and payments from US banks.

Thumbs down

Like Barney Frank said, this is the stupidest law ever created. Not only is it stupid to try to stop Amerticans from gambling online, it is stupider for politicians to use banks to try to stop Americans from gambling online. Banks do not care about online gambling. They care less about stopping online gambling transaction. They care about providing their services to their clients and making money for their investors. Period. I want so bad to win big so I can can get my five and six figure checks and bank wires. Going to make sure they know it is from online gambling. If they don't cash it, the fun will begin. I'll sue everybody. I could care less. I'll sue Bill Frist, John Kyl, John Ashcroft, George Bush. Let's see them try to stop me from getting my money.

Unfortunately I have to win a walkoff first.

Question

Aren’t some of these financial institutions beginning to freeze member’s funds which were received from gaming sites?

I'm glad that some of these places are flouting the law and it just goes to show how unenforcable the UIGEA is...but we know from hard experience that laws and semi-laws against gaming transfers are selectively enforcable.

I wish I had a way to feel more comfortable about sending, but especially receiveing, my gambling money. I say this as someone who has been debating for a month with himself about opening an epassporte account.

Ummm...anyone use it? Any problems? Again I'd be especially interested if someone had used it to manage a cashout.

PM me if you don't think stuff like that should be forum-board discussed--although I'm one who believes that info is floating around pretty freely out there and discussing it on MW isn't going to out anyone.

Got this yesterday from my bank, they suggested avoiding all $US bank wires in respect of gambling transactions.

Need to keep who it was sent to confidential for a few days until I have sorted a few things out.

""Dear Mr J

I would like to inform that the funds that have been sent to ********, on the 23.01.07 have been held to a court order served on JP Morgan Chase by the United States Attorney Office and JP Morgan chase is unable to release the funds.

We have sent a letter to you with the above explained.

Should you require any further details, please do not hesitate in contacting us.

I think you are misrepresenting just what bong users care about.

I don't get the effort really

You know this guy from Peeps? O.K. the effort seems kind of odd is all

Stevo...You know I've wondered about that about Highwayman too...

So Highwayman, what is your interest in posting the kind of stuff you do? I think you'll at least agree that you're a johnny one-note, and I'd be interested in hearing what you'd like to accomplish with your posts and why.

In your original post you said "some" banks. JP Morgan is one bank. Isolated incident. Those people could end up getting their funds back as well, just like the people with Neteller did. No the current environment is not friendly but my point is that things arent nearly as bad as you portray them. And if you enjoy the occasional wager like millions of other people I dont understand why you take such delight in trying to make things seem worse than they are.
