Big A Pick 6 Yields Two Tickets Worth $1.12 Million Apiece
With every horse in the sequence paying double digits, Saturday’s New York record Pick 6 at Aqueduct was hit on two tickets. The winning tickets - bought in Southern California and St. Kitts in the British West Indies -- were each worth $1,120,287.
Because arctic temperatures and snow cancelled racing at Aqueduct on Thursday and Friday, the New York Racing Association opted to add a race to Saturday’s card and to race on Wednesday, January 21st, on what was to have been a dark day. Saturday’s 10-race card was studied by many racing fans, including the 4,235 on track, as it featured a Pick 6 on races 5-10 and a carryover of $761,021.46.
Then, the bombs flew.
Coined for Success started things off in Saturday’s fifth race by returning $18.60. Next came Hornshope ($11.60), followed by Our Tune ($25), A One Rocket ($14.60), Affectionately Handicap winner Austin’s Mom ($25) and Hot As A Pistol ($14.80) to complete the sequence (8-10-6-3-6-10). Additionally, there were 104 tickets that had five winners, good for the $4,742 consolation.
The total Pick 6 pool of $2,630,316 at Aqueduct was also a record.
The previous high payoff for a Pick 6 in New York was $767,998 at Aqueduct on April 9, 1990. By comparison, the top payoffs in California were $1,039,259.20 at Del Mar on July 7, 1995; $1,020,221.20 at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meet on Oct. 19, 1994; and $774,014 at Hollywood Park on June 27, 1997.

And little ol' Los Al turned out a winning ticket for over 100g Sat. nite. Apparently a $4 ticket according to a witness that told TVG reporters.
But this was incredible.
And can't forget awesome 600k ticket at GG on Friday.
