Default Is Mariano Rivera overrated?

Is it just me or does he often have trouble closing the deal vs good teams?

for career...............NO.

right now...............probably not.

best closer of all time and probably still top 3 or 4 right now.........he isn't unhittable anymore, but who would you rather have now besides smoltz or gagne? (who have proved nothing in the post season).

Rivera let the BoSox to within 1. Now Posada just hit a 2 run johnson. Yanks up 10-7. A little insurance for Rivera.

IMO....Smoltz (when healthy) is the best. No, I'm not bias. I hate the Braves.

He is almost as overrated as Pedro

He's been brutal lately because he's been overused due to the yanks joke of a bullpen.

How many times have Torre brought him in in the 8th inning? He's been overused and now the effects are starting to show.

Rivera's arm speed is down about 3-4 mph. Yet the Yanks continue to use him in the eighth inning.

He has slipped lately due to overuse, but how many other closers are asked to pitch in the 8th inning as often as Rivera does?

His ERA is still 2.01 which is damn good. Gagne and Smoltz are beyond awesome this season. It was ugly but it was a save.
