"Comp-fan,

I was'nt paid by Dave/BetCBS to come here.....to be perfectly honest, I came here to see if there was any discussion/research material for the new CIPA Act (That's why I started the thread about tyhe topic) and saw this. Otherwise, I would have responded MUCH sooner (The thread here DID start almost a week ago). "

Sky - I dunno why you were addressing me. I was not speaking directly to you....not even sure of your involvement....I have not read all the posts in this/other threads...just putting in my .02 in general.

Peace and good luck.

I was responding to the message that accused Dave Johnson of paying me to come here and defend them.

I think I'll mention that the very fact that threads like this get MUCH MUCH more attention than the tthe thread regarding the CIPA Act (which is INFINIELY more important than this thread and affects MANY more people) speaks VOLUMES as to why such acts such as the CIPA Act ever get passed in the first place!

skyy:

I don't want to speak for Comp Fan, but when he said "Good job Dave/CBS on paying the guy", I'm 99.9% sure Comp Fan was talking about paying areeff.

Sky-
I wasn't accusing you of being paid, though I was pointing out that you may have a bias, since you seem to have some sort of working relationship. I was merely pointing it out for disclosure. People can weigh the nature of the relationship.

As for the Wimbledon article, I realize that you must have written it before the incident. I was commenting on the irony of it because I thought it was a funny coincidence.

Comp-fan,

Man I REALLY apologize for the my 'trigger-happy' flame thrower that is my keyboard. I was'nt aware that Areef got paid after all. About how much was it?

I apologize to everybody for getting so emotional over the whole thing. I honestly think that CBS is a good book without the 'sleaze-factor' and other things you see on so many books these days and on sports related sites in general. As much money as many books are making these days, I have yet to see any other books set up programs that donate their profits to worthy organizations in their country such as CBS's 'Bet on a kid' program where a percentage of their daily profits go to childrens hospitals in Costa Rico where CBS is located. THAT'S one of the reasons why I defend them. There might very well be other books that have similiar programs, but not nearly as many as there should be.

I will openly admit a bit of a bias when it comes to Dave Johnson, that's why I was careful not to defend him based on that Wimbledon incident

I have done about 70 articles over the last 2 years for Dave and although there has'nt been much feedback from anybody to CBS or me directly (I've asked here many times for ANY feedback on my articles but have never recieved even one comment) he has STILL stuck with me and continued to support me and accept my articles AND put them on the main homepage! There are other factors involved, but the two years I've been writing for him have been my healthiest of the 14 years I've been living in my own apartment.

The opprotunity Dave has given me has just been GREAT for me mentally as well as physically. I have'nt quite figured out why, but when I have something to do such as an article for Dave, my brain tells my body 'Hey.....shape up! We have work to do and it can't get done in a hospital'. I know it all sounds a bit far-fetched and simplistic but it works. I can remember I did the Wimbledon article on the night of June 23rd because I had to go into the hospital the next day to get my 101th central line cathater and possibly my first feeding tube placed. And while I was in there, all I could think about was 'I have GOT to get back home and started on another article!

The only other time this has worked for me was way back in 1982-1986 when I was manager for Jeff Georges Junior-High and High-School football teams. We were #1 in the country and things were just great.....it was'nt JUST Jeff, he had a GREAT line (This is why I think he does'nt scramble very well.....he never had to instead of the more negative/ego driven reasons all the 'experts' have come up with throughout the years) but the whole team just clicked perfectly. Those 3 high-school years (84-87) I only had 11 surgeeies and 6 hospital stays and NONE of them were during the football season. I was the very first person in a wheelchair to letter in a ISHAA sport.....to this day when I get really sick and/or depressed, I wear that letter jacket with the 2 state champion patches!

Anyway, sorry to get so off-topic, but the whole point is that there is MUCH more to sports than just the the things that are seen, heard and reported on the surface. There is also ALOT of magic underneath the whole sports world....those things seem to take a 'back seat' on the whole 'sportsworld bus', but every once in awhile, A 'Rosa Parks' stands up on that bus, and demands attention it gets noticed and reported. Those are the times that seems to make every other aspect of the scene worth it all....if only for a short while. All the negativity in the sea of sports washes up to the shore....some people kick that in other public's and those directly imvolef it sports faces, and some build castles.

skyyking / Sean:

Apparently, areeff got paid at +435 on the full $1,000 that he placed on the bet.

There are threads here and on the Rx with Dave J's most recent response.

I knew he would. Dave's a good guy and always will be. I think JJ should deposit $10,000 lose it on purpose.

I never want to see anymore BS about Dave and BetCBS being crooked or anything even remotly like it again. What a group of popus Vagas eliteists. What REALLY pisses me off is that this thread got over 2,000 reads while the thread mentioning him doing the right thing has'nt even gotten 1,000. AND worse yet, I started a thread where i was TRYING to get some INTELLIGENT and CONSTRUCTIVE dialogue going on about something that affects EVERYBODY (My CIPA thread and how it is going to affect ALL sports/gaming sites) and that has'nt gotten ANYWHERE no matter how articulate I was in the opening message. Forget it! I'm outtas here!

Skyyking since you are good friends with DAVE

Can you try to get me a DIME LINE in bases this year?
I had it last year.
But this year they are playing games who they are giving it out to.
I emailed them plenty of times and Dave once with no response.
