Default ANYONE HERE KNOW VEGAS POKER??

I'm a limit Hold 'em player that wins in easy to average games, can't win in a tough game. Going out Tuesday morning so just curious if any one is familiar with the games out there. Any tips on where the softer games may be found? What games to stay away from? I prefer around $20-40 but will play a bet higher or lower if the game is right. Hold 'em only. Please don't tell me I only have two choices, Bellagio and Mirage again........

If it's real good info please send it privately through PM's. Several sharks from here going and I don't want to face them if I don't have to.......

Oh BTW, anyone gets there early and wants to have a drink call the Golden Nugget and ask for McIrish. I'm getting there sometime Tuesday afternoon. I use a fake name here, my real name is Eugene P. McIrish. If you ask for Patrick McIrish they may not put you through. Hope none of the tough guys that are looking for me show up and find me!!!???? LOL. I'll have a Buc flag on the front door......

PS - I get word the Devil is working on a MW poker tournament for us. GREAT IDEA!!

check out binions downtown, they used to have a 10-20 holdem game, not sure if they still do. unfortunately other than that if you want higher than 4-8 your choices are.....bellagio and mirage.

if you want a wild 3-6 game check out the stardust on weekend nights. bunch of maniacs capping with nothing, and its 6 bets max per betting round instead of the normal 4 or 5(b & m). they also spread a small no-limit game on friday night.

best of luck at the tables

Thanks for the info sandwedge. Do you know exactly how small that no-limit game is?

Snow - not a chance. There's several VERY strong hold 'em players here. I'm probably just middle of the pack. Besides anyone can basically win a tournament. I don't disagree though if they make it 50/50 or something, just thought it would be fun. Could put a bounty on Devil's head for whoever knocks him out...... Thanks Sand. 6 bets max? Wow. I like that. I'm used to 3 or 4 bets max per card. Yeah let us know on that no limit game too if you can. I'd be interested in that if Mach doesn't play and we don't have to buy in for a huge amount......

Nothing like sending your pile in with rockets and seeing 4 others call? Since you're all-in you can't protect your hand anyway. "Don't forget to tip your cocktail waitress on the way out.........."

i think it was either $50 or $100 buy-in and $1 and $2 blinds but i'm not positive. they were spreading it in nov of 2001 was the last time i was there, you might call to make sure they still have it. be warned too there are a couple of pretty sharp players that frequent the game.

on the other hand too you sometimes have one of the aforementioned maniacs who is having a good night and decides " i think i'll try that no-limit game, it can't be that much different to play"

Irish, I don't think we should enter. It would be too embarrassing losing to guys with the rank of hands written on cocktail napkins

Binion's games are usually 4-8. When I was in town last and playing there I heard they tried to have a 10-20 game (the first in weeks) and it broke up within a couple hours. Binion's poker is nothing like it used to be. If you want big action there you have to wait until April when the series starts going.

Bellaggio on Super Bowl weekend might not be that bad with all the non-professionals in town. There will obviously be some tough players but there will be a lot of weak ones with tons of money. And if the poker isn't that good it is only a dozen steps to the sportsbook and/or the bar.

Have a good time in Vegas McIrish

Patrick,
The best action will be at Bellagio. They spread 15-30 and there should be as many as 5 games this weekend going on. The Mirage spreads 10-20, 20-40 and the 10-20 will be tight. I played the 20-40 there last week and won $400 in about an hour, good action. The Bellagio will be packed but there will be a good mix of tourists and locals. The 30-60 is sometimes a little tight but with all the tourists in town it might be pretty good action. Binions isn't worth checking out unless you like small limits and a bunch of rocks sitting around. GL to you.

Maybe it's only in comparison to the Commerce 40, but I thought the Bellagio 30 (I was there four days last month) was a marshmallow. And this was in the day time.

There's no place else to go, in Vegas, I don't think. The Bellagio's the joint. The nicest card room in the country, I think. Non-smoking, great chairs, enforced good behavior, tourists (which is what the Commerce doesn't have), sports and race book next door (also what the Commerce doesn't have).

Of course the piddlin $15 comp which doesn't even cover the buffet is a bit tight, and only one of those a week per floor boss, or something like that, I never really got it straight. But otherwise, a great room.
