Here's my proposal: 1) There would be two divisions: a regular division and a high-roller division. To prevent the sportsbook from being overwhelmed with contestants, buy-in would be a dime for the regular division and ten dimes for the high-roller division. If there is insufficient interest in the high-roller division, it would be canceled. 2) First place in each division would receive 50% of the contest money; second place would receive 30%, and third place would receive the remaining 20%. 3) The contest would be structured like the old Castaways contest: Contestants would be required to bet on every regular-season NFL game. But unlike the Castaways, which only included sides, this contest would also include totals. In other words, this would be the ultimate NFL handicapping contest, requiring players to pick both a side and the over or the under on every single game. 4) Players would fax a legible copy of their picks to the sportsbook by Wednesday, 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. The book, in turn, would e-mail each player, confirming it had received their picks. For contest betting lines, the book would use its Wednesday, 3:00 PM online numbers. 5) The book would post, in MW and BW, the weekly and updated seasonal record of each contestant. 6) Players would cover the fees for sending the contest money to the book. Players with a regular account at the book could, for no fee, transfer money from that account to their contest account. Anyway, after considerable thought, that's the general proposal I've come up with. However, the proposal is not etched in stone, and the final contest structure and rules could ultimately be different. Earlier today, I verbally presented my proposal to one prominent sportsbook owner, and he plans to discuss it with his partner. If this book declines to sponsor the contest, I'll then talk to another book about doing it.

RENO ITS A START FOR SURE, I REALLY THINK THAT EVERY SIDE AND TOTAL IS A LITTLE BIT MUCH TO PICK, THAT IS NOT A TRUE HANDICAPPING CHALLENGE, I WOULD LIKE TO GO AGAINSTS POSTERS THAT ARE WAGERING REAL MONEY ON THESE GAMES ALSO, NOBODY IN THERE RIGHT MIND BETS EVERY SIDE AND TOTAL. IT REMINDS ME OF THOSE OFFICE POOLS WHERE YOU PICK EVERY GAME AND THE PERSON WHO WINS IS USUALLY A GIRL WHO PICKS HER FAVORITE COLOR OR SOME TOTALLY CLUELESS PERSON. 5 BEST BETS FOR NFL OR 10 BEST BETS IF YOU INCLUDE COLLEGE FOOTS IS PLENTY OF PLAYS FOR SURE. I REALLY WOULDNT WANT TO SEE IT COME DOWN TO A COIN FLIP ON THESE GAMES I HAVE NO OPINION ON. JUST MY 2 CENTS

A dime for the low rollers?? Now, I know that with my 180k CFL bankroll the ten dimes will be no problem for me, but a dime for the low rollers?? I would say a hundred at the max is more appropriate. And why EVERY game and total?? Why not just a few games a week? And if you want to make it a true ULTIMATE handicapping contest, why not include props?

It's a start, but picking every game is insane........ I am for Bowmans contest. Best one I have seen, unless $100k is considered "chump change". Plus their contest gives away $2500 weekly, just to keep you interested over the course of the season . You pick 8 games - which is still alot, but better than picking the entire board. More participants, too. Additionally they keep track of everything and as I stated before, enter under your username here and it will be easy for everyone to monitor. Just go and make your picks and you're done. Alot more simple than picking the board, faxing in plays, etc

In other words, this would be the ultimate NFL handicapping contest, requiring players to pick both a side and the over or the under on every single game. I just re-read this. Who in the hell would bet real money on every NFL side and total and still live to tell about it at the end of the season? That's nuts. This would not be a true contest because there is no way someone can honestly like every side and total, for 16 weeks. That would be just throwing darts at the board for most games. No way...... If you want to wager real money, than 3 games minimum, 5 games max. Sides OR totals. |

I say Sides OR totals because I suck at totals and can't be in any contest where picking them is mandatory. I am so bad at totals if Curt Schilling and Pedro were pitching and the total was 20 and I liked the under, GUARANTEED that game will go OVER!
