Rijo Has Sixth Operation on Right Elbow
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) -- Cincinnati pitcher Jose Rijo had an operation on his right elbow for the sixth time since 1995 and is not likely to make the team's opening day roster.
Dr. James Andrews performed a 30-minute procedure to remove a bone spur Tuesday night in Birmingham, Ala. The Reds said Rijo, the MVP from their 1990 World Series sweep of Oakland, would be sidelined four weeks.
Rijo, 37, missed six seasons from 1995 through 2000 before returning to the Reds in 2001
