Default catchers in the draft

any help here i dont like paying big bucks for catchers and piazza & pudge will go for $25-$30 and i dont think they are worth it since piazza gets hurt so much and misses alot of games and pudge is coming over to the nl and he might have a bad year.
give me the next best catchers that wont cost so much.

i like AJ (spelling) pierzinsky....C for twins...hits for good average, doesn't strike out a lot, some pop, and solid on the field (in case you get minuses for E's). is on a high scoring team, so he gets chances to drive runs in and score some runs, and also hits in a doubles ballpark...

lieberthal for philly and santiago (even though he is 147 years old) should be decent to solid (for a catcher)

possible sleepers--charles johnson in coors, damien miller for cubys, jason larue for reds, micheal barret for expos...

Eli Marrero is not listed any where as a catcher, but he played enough games last year as catcher to qualify in most leagues.

Unless you have knowledgeable guys in your league, people will have him listed as a $1 outfielder. He will not give you tremendous stats, but he will give you better numbers than a cheap catcher.

Also, in some leagues Craig Wilson (pirates) may also qualify as a catcher

Avon Barksdale
thanks for the heads up
eli marrero did play 44 games there last year and his stats are not bad compared to getting a scrub catcher for a dollar and suffer all year with him.

Josh Bard should be secure as the opening day catcher for the Indians. He's 10-for-22 this spring while highly-touted prospect Victor Martinez is just 3-fo8.
