Default Reggie Sanders

Pirates agreed to terms on a one-year contract with outfielder Reggie Sanders.
Sanders is likely to start in left field for the Pirates, pushing Brian Giles to center and Rob Mackowiak to the bench. This doesn't make the team a contender, but it is a pretty nice upgrade. A lineup of Jason Kendall, Sanders, Brian Giles, Aramis Ramirez, Randall Simon, Craig Wilson/Matt Stairs, Pokey Reese and Jack Wilson doesn't look so bad. Of course, manager Lloyd McClendon will probably stick Pokey Reese at the top of the lineup and bat Sanders fifth, but even that wouldn't be terrible.

Sanders is a fantasy headcase. One year he puts up respectable numbers, the next year, hits .220 and is injured. I will avoid him, altogether this season.

Reggie was a dissapointment w the Gyros last year-- tons of whiffs and a lack of production in the 6 spot. Fast guy, but nothing special in the field. Streak hitter with the homeruns. Also a well spoken quality guy in the clubhouse

Get this, the Pirates are actually talking Reggie up as a solid Veteran who the young guys should watch and learn from as far as patience at the plate. Reggie has had some great fantasy years and when healthy, he can dominate, but next to Jose Hernandez, he would be the last guy I would want my team learning from as far as discipline at the plate.
