October 9th: New York Rangers - Moneyline (+110) [Risk 1 Unit to win 1.1 Units] --> The NY Rangers will have Bryan Trottier as their new coach as they open up the season against the Hurricanes. Currently, Pavel Bure remains questionable for tonight's game, and Eric Lindros (elbow), Mark Messier (hip) and newly acquired Bobby Holik (foot) are probable for tonight. Carolina was a huge sleeper last year going all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals against the Red Wings, in the off-season the 'Canes released Gelinas to free agency and did not acquire anybody else to their lineup. Where as, there opponent, the NY Rangers have also added Darius Kasparaitis along with Holik. The resigning of Richter will be a huge factor as he is expected to start today against Irbe in Raleigh. Although the Rangers posted a 36-38-4-4 record last year, the Rangers team should have enough offense and fire power to attack against the Eastern Champs. If Bure does happen to play with Lindros and Holik, I expect the Rangers to possibly win this by 2. The Rangers power play will be very efficient this year as they have the size and offense upfront with there high paid superstars (Nedved, Lindros, Messier, Bure, Holik) and the pairing of Leetch and Poti will be lethal with the men advantage. Carolina might make this game interesting and keep this closing in the 2nd period, but I expect Glen Sathers' NYR to build a lead early and take the momentum out of the bewildered Carolina crowd. Carolina Hurricanes team total Under 3 (-120)[Risk 1.2 Units to win 1 Units] --> Carolina is a descent team and have enough talent to keep games close. But the odds of Carolina just scoring 3 goals by Richter against the solidified Rangers defense this year will be a challenge. I expect Trottier to emphasize defense first in the game, especially the early stages of the period. Assuming the Rangers hold a comfortable lead, I expect the team total of Under 3 is very possible, worst case scenario is a PUSH. I'll take a chance against Carolinas' offense against Richter tonight. Dallas Stars team total Over 2 (-120) [Risk 1.2 Units to win 1 Units] --> Dallas facing the Avalanche at the Pepsi Center in Colorado will be a huge tilt magnified by a new roster and strategy change from the Stars. The addition of Bill Guerin, and Scott Young playing on the line with Modano will be dangerous. Jason Arnott, Kirk Muller, Manny Malhotra and Piere Turgeon will also add offensive power on this heavily offensive-minded style of play inscribed by their new coach, Dave Tippett. Mr. Tippett's specialty was his ability to turn the LA Kings as a assistant coach to a much more efficient power play having a 20.7% success rate ranked 1st in the league. Just imagine the amount of goals this team can possibly score with the depth they have. This game could possibly go over the posted total of 5, with both heavy weights clashing. However the Avalanche might win this game in a shootout, thus, we are playing the 'safer' bet in Dallas over 2 goals. At least 2 goals will be scored against Roy tonight and one should come early! Crazy Jivin Ivan www.crazypicks.com *May make a live-period-bet on LA vs Phoenix or Dallas vs Col game, but will post any plays if played on the Hockey Forum and will still be tallied with NHL record*

Crazy, I don't know who gave you those write-ups, but , whoever it was needs to put down the crack-pipe. They are riddled with inaccuracies. I sure hope that you're not paying for those picks with that info. Ouch. "If Bure does happen to play with Lindros and Holik,...." "and Scott Young playing on the line with Modano will be dangerous" If I were you I would change your sources immediately because the guy that you're using will sedn you to the poorhouse pretty quickly. Even a high-school kid playing pro-line with his babysitting $$ can spot the errors in those write-ups. For the sake of your pocketbook, get someone new ... and quickly. Later-HG

Hockeyguru what the hell are you talking about? The picks are legit and the players are on the lineup Both coachses for Rangers' and Stars' were playing with the lineup during the preseason I'm very confused as to why you say I am wrong, I think you still thinK Holik is in NJ and Young is in STL. If you do, you should remove your 'hockeyguru' title because it is a complete joke!

"Even a high-school kid playing pro-line with his babysitting $$ can spot the errors in those write-ups." I guess you are nothing more then a high school kid.....And don't bother playing with pro-line because 3 team parlays with crappy odds for the provincial government is not worth playing for. Good Luck to you though. Maybe if you made some picks and actually did a write-up (maybe you can buy your picks of some site) and then post here. It might help credibility to your handle. Ivan

Yo Crazy, Scott Young will be playing along side old linemate Pierre Turgeon and not Mike Modano. That is the first innacuracy that he was speaking of. The second is the fact that Holik, Lindros and Bure also will not be playing together. Holik and Lindros will be centering two separate lines.
