Weekend boxing pick - Edison Miranda

Edison Miranda is a good bet at +200 v. Arthur Abraham this weekend in Germany. Both are undefeated - Abraham is favored largely because he will be fighting in his home country. Abraham is a very good fighter with more significant names on his resume than Miranda has, but Miranda is a murderous puncher, having stopped 23 of his 26 opponents. And though both defeated their one common opponent - the world-class Howard Eastman - Abraham won a 12-round decision, while Miranda KO'd Eastman in 7.

Abraham is not likely to lose a decision, both because he will be fighting at home and because he is a tall, slick fighter who will likely pile up some points with his long jab and straight right. At all times, however, Abraham will be in danger of being knocked out by the extremely powerful and confident Miranda, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if at some point Miranda caught up to his man and stopped him, either with one huge shot or from an accumulation of punishment. Abraham has not shown any real chin issues thus far, but this will be his most dangerous test against a man who may be the biggest puncher in the division.

There is a chance that Edison Miranda will go on to have a very big career, and that the +200 on him in this fight will be rembered as a hell of a value.
