| Washington 63 @ Charlotte 73 This game might be a little misleading.. Washington's best two players (milton-jones and beard) were in foul trouble and only combined for 49 minutes and 20 points. When you take those two players out of the equation Washington becomes a below average team. The other amazing stat is they committed 35 fouls which led to 37 ft's for Charlotte 28 of which were converted-- what's even more strange is Charlotte doesn't have a dominating inside game, if they fouled 35 times against Charlotte what's going to happen against a team like Detroit? Washington is going to have to adjust to the new rule changes regarding fouls or they could be in a bit more trouble than I thought they would be. Should be very interesting tomorrow when Minnesota comes to town as Minnesota has the ability to work the ball inside Charlotte only shot 35% in the game which is awful, they were aided by the 37 ft's Charlotte is off until June 1st when they should come back down to Earth against Connecticut. LA Sparks 80 @ San Antonio 71 Another case were the final score is a tad mis leading, it was 69-67 Sparks with 2 minutes to go then they stepped it up on the defensive end and made their ft's. This was their 3rd straight game without Holdsclaw, Lisa Leslie again carried them with 25 points and 16 rebounds. Offensive rebounds is what gave the Sparks the lead early as they had 42 total rebs with 15 offensive while SA only had 30 rebs. SA was down 8 at half but showed they aren't quitters are they kept making runs at LA in the 2nd half. Kendra Wecker had a very impressive game with 16 points going 7-10 from the field. SA should continue to improve and play close games Their next game is the 31st at Phoenix. Houston 81 @ Sacramento 66 after losing to SA at home, Houston has dominated Seattle and Sacramento both on the road The keys to this team are simple, Tina Thompson needs to step it up and they have to play unbelieveably tough defense- both happened last night. Thompson added 19 to Sheryl Swoopes' 22 and they held Sacramento to 35% at home. Houston led by 20 entering the 4th Q The past 2 games have been extremly impressive for the Comets. Not much to say on the Sacramento side, they struggled against the tough Houston D, It will be interesting to see how they rebound against Seattle on the 31st. Seattle 94 @ Phoenix 81 This is the Seattle Storm we're used to seeing They shot an unreal 54.4% from the floor including Lauren Jackson going insane with 35 points, they are just too many weapons on this seattle team to be stopped- Janell Burse made her return to the lineup adding 14 points and 6 rebs in 26 minutes playing with 5 fouls. Sue Bird only added 7 points and Seattle still almost hit 100 and would have if they didn't play their subs in the 4th Q resulting in only 15 points. Phoenix's system of running up and down the court isn't going to work for them, they can't play defense, that's 2 games now a good offense has done whatever they wanted Phoenix shot 34.7% last night against a lower rated defensive team, what's going to happen when they play a good defensive team? They really miss Penny Taylor a lot more than I thought they would, they really don't have a true point guard to move the ball, the rookie Cappie Pondexter had a good game with 21 and Diana Taurasi scored 28 but take away those two players and the rest of the team shot 10-41 from the field, as of now phoenix is a total fade or lay off.. their next game against SA should be very interesting due to the conflicting styles of play. Tonight the Indiana Fever visit the Chicago Sky, should be a good one |
