Default MLB "Score-line" Handicapping Tool

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL SCORELINES

I'll try to keep updating these on a daily basis for the time being to see what we can learn by eyeballing them. The lists below consist simply of what each team has scored this season on a game-by-game basis ranked from low to high.

If you want to know their "median" game, you can pretty much hold your cursor near the midway point and see what it is. You could always just count your way in...but eyeballing it works pretty well.

You'll note that some teams score fairly consistently...while others are all over the place. I'm hoping this exercise will help us see things we weren't seeing before, and develop strategies from the different clusters we see. For now, I'd only be concerned with the "all games" line. Even that line needs a lot more samples to trust. Eventually though...once everyone's played 10-20 games both at home and on the road we'll see some tendencies develop. There will be teams who don't score much on the road. There will be teams that very consistently get to 4-5 runs...meaning they're a bit more trustworthy for your dollar.

I'm hoping many of you come up with new ways to use these numbers that haven't been thought of already. If you're amongst the group here that thinks the sample sizes are too small...you don't have to contribute if you don't want to. There wasn't much sample size going into everyone knowing that David Wells wasn't sharp yet. There wasn't much sample size knowing that Moehler's mechanics were messed up. I think it's possible to learn things without having a sample of 1,000 games...or several thousand.

These numbers are updated through the complete schedule of games played Thursday April 13.

Default MLB "Score-line

These numbers are updated through the complete schedule of games played Friday April 14 (except for the 2 California games...I'll update those in the future).

NL EAST

ATLANTA BRAVES
All: 4-4-5-5-5-5-6-6-9-11-14
Road: 4-4-6-9-11-14
Home: 5-5-5-6
(Note, the Braves are showing amazing consistency on offense, even after Chipper went out. They've reached a minimum of 4 in every game. This is EXTREMELY rare this deep into the season. It's not like they've been playing in hitting paradises)

FLORIDA MARLINS
All: 0-2-2-3-3-5-5-9-11
Road: 0-2-3-5-11
Home: 2-3-5-9
(You can see that Florida will have trouble vs. good pitching)

NEW YORK METS
All: 3-3-3-4-5-7-9-10-13
Road: 3-7-13
Home: 3-3-4-5-9-10
(Don't let the average cause you to overrate this offense. Explosions are nice...but there's a good a chance of a 3-4 as there is for the explosion)

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
All: 2-2-3-3-3-5-6-7-7-10
Road: 3-7-7-10
Home: 2-2-3-3-5-6
(Took Phillies a while to get rolling, but things have picked up)

WASHINGTON NATIONALS
All: 1-1-1-2-3-3-4-4-5-9-12
Road: 1-2-3-3-4-5-9-12
Home: 1-1-4
(Offensive woes continue...they got 2 off of Dontrelle early. That's when everyone gets him...including Canada)

NL CENTRAL
CHICAGO CUBS
All: 2-3-3-4-5-6-8-11-16
Road: 6-11-16
Home: 2-3-3-4-5-8
(Scoring better on the road so far, even with wind blowing out in Wrigley. Odd dynamic)

CINCINNATI REDS
All: 1-1-5-6-7-7-8-8-9-11
Road: 1-1-8-9
Home: 5-6-7-7-8-11
(Cincinnati posted their second 1 of the season, and won anyway)

HOUSTON ASTROS
All: 1-1-2-3-5-6-6-7-8-8
Road: 1-3-8
Home: 1-2-5-6-6-7-8
(Remember that Houston had big troubles scoring on the road much of last year)

MILWAUKEE BREWERS
All: 0-3-3-3-3-4-4-5-5-7
Road: 3-3-4-4
Home: 0-3-3-5-5-7
(Pretty weak compared to what everyone else has been doing. Selig forgot to send juiced balls to his own team)

PITTSBURGH PIRATES
All: 2-2-3-3-5-5-5-5-6-6-7-9-9
Road: 2-2-3-5-5-5-6-9
Home: 3-5-6-7-9
(Pitching has been the problem, not offense. That's A LOT of 5+ marks for a team with a losing record)

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
All: 0-1-2-3-4-4-4-6-8-13
Road: 1-2-4-4-4-13
Home: 0-3-6-8
(Median is just 4...as offensive struggles continue)

NL WEST
ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS
All: 1-2-3-4-4-5-5-5-7-12
Road: 1-2-4-4-7-12
Home: 3-5-5-5
(Better than last year so far)

COLORADO ROCKIES
All: 2-3-4-5-5-6-10-10-12
Road: 4-5-6-8-10-10-12
Home: 2-3-5-8
(Home road splits in a stunning reverse thus far)

LOS ANGELES DODGERS
All: 3-5-5-5-6-6-8-8-10-13
Road: 3-5-5-6-6-8-13
Home: 5-8-10

SAN DIEGO PADRES
All: 1-2-4-4-4-4-6-7-9
Road: 2-4-7-9
Home: 1-4-4-4-6
(Penciling in a 4 seems safe)

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS
All: 0-1-3-5-6-6-6-12
Road: 1-3
Home: 0-5-6-6-6-12

AL EAST
BALTIMORE ORIOLES
All: 0-1-1-4-6-6-6-8-8-9-16
Road: 4-6-6-8
Home: 0-1-1-6-8-9-16
(Feast or famine at home)

BOSTON RED SOX
All: 2-2-2-4-4-4-5-5-6-7-14
Road: 2-2-4-4-5-7-14
Home: 2-4-5-6
(A match for St. Louis with recent offensive troubles)

NEW YORK YANKEES
All: 1-1-2-3-4-9-9-10-12-15
Road: 1-1-2-3-4-10-15
Home: 9-9-12
(Ultimate feast or famine team. Great average, but "disappointing" in five of seven road games)

TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS
All: 2-3-4-4-5-5-6-6-7-7-9
Road: 2-4-5-6-6-9
Home: 3-4-5-7-7
(Going to be a nice team to take as a road dog vs. vulnerable pitching if this holds up)

TORONTO BLUE JAYS
All: 2-3-4-6-6-8-8-8-8-13
Road: 3-8-8-13
Home: 2-4-6-6-8-8
(Gotta love a team with a median of 6)

AL CENTRAL
CHICAGO WHITE SOX
All: 2-3-3-3-4-5-7-7-10-13
Road: 3-3-4-5-7-13
Home: 2-3-7-10
(Moving in fits and starts)

CLEVELAND INDIANS
All: 1-3-3-4-4-5-8-9-9-11
Road: 1-4-4-8
Home: 3-3-5-9-9-11
(Bandwagon hit a bump lately)

DETROIT TIGERS
All: 3-3-3-3-5-5-7-9-10-14
Road: 3-3-5-7-10-14
Home: 3-3-5-9
(A lot of numbers 5 and up...good dog material)

KANSAS CITY ROYALS
All: 1-1-1-2-3-3-4-5-7-11
Road: 2-3-5-7
Home: 1-1-1-3-4-11
(Very much the look of a minor league team. 3 is their mid-range expectation...awful)

MINNESOTA TWINS
All: 0-2-3-3-5-6-6-7-8-13
Road: 0-2-3-3-6-13
Home: 5-6-7-8
(Watch home scoring until air conditioning comes on...though they were Under vs. Yanks Friday night)

AL WEST
LOS ANGELES ANGELS
All: 1-3-3-4-4-5-5-5-5-8
Road: 4-5-5-8
Home: 1-3-3-4-5-5
(Teams who consistently score on the road are good in team and total tandems...you get cheap prices and 5 runs makes getting swept impossible.)

OAKLAND A'S
All: 2-2-2-3-4-5-5-6-6-9
Road: 2-2-3-5-5-6-6
Home: 2-4-9

SEATTLE MARINERS
All: 0-0-1-4-4-5-6-6-9-10-11
Road: 1-5-9-11
Home: 0-0-4-4-6-6-10

TEXAS RANGERS
All: 0-1-2-2-4-5-6-10-11
Road: 2-4-11
Home: 0-1-2-5-6-10

In the first batch I suggested looking at the midpoint to get a sense of the most likely general expectation. Another thing you can do is kind of eyeball where the opposing starting pitcher should pop in. Say a team is facing Schillling. Maybe you go just a third of the way in instead of halfway. Say they're facing a back end guy, or somebody you know is struggling...maybe you go 60-65% of the way in to see what that might look like. A lot of ways to play with these numbers.

If you've thought of others...post those ideas here!

I didn't get a chance to write team comments today. Busy holiday weekend in the BLOG household. I've noticed many of you are clicking in to look over the numbers. I'll keep updating them daily as long as there's interest. Please feel free to share your ideas about how these might be used. Note that many teams posted season lows...or near season lows on Saturday. We're definitely seeing the pitchers finding their form after that rustiness of the first week. As we've documented elsewhere...games are going Over when the wind is blowing out STRONGLY at a cllip of about 75%. Otherwise...things have generally shaded Under. I haven't had much of a chance to look at the wind blowing in this week.

Personally, I don't think the balls have been juiced. But...we will see scoring in good weather with lousy pitchers though. These sort of team scoring lines will give us a way to monitor developments as the season progresses. Right now...numbers of 6 and up are fairly common up above. They may start moving further to the right end of the spectrum if the pitchers have settled in. That makes Overs very SCARY when the wind ISN'T blowing out...unless you're in one of the good hitter's parks on that stadium rundown we presented earlier...

Have a great Easter. Don't spend the whole day sweating scores...it's a holiday!

Default MLB "Score-line

These numbers are updated through the complete schedule of games played Sunday April 16.

NL EAST

ATLANTA BRAVES
All: 2-3-4-4-5-5-5-5-6-6-9-11-14
Road: 4-4-6-9-11-14
Home: 2-3-5-5-5-6
(Slowing down after a fast start...partly due to Chipper's injury probably. Still, a solid 5 for a median with a good high end. Will struggle vs. top pitchers while shorthanded)

FLORIDA MARLINS
All: 0-1-2-2-3-3-5-5-5-9-11
Road: 0-2-3-5-11
Home: 1-2-3-5-5-9
(Only two games above 5 all season, and a midpoint of 3. Definitely an offense that will be overmatched by quality pitching)

NEW YORK METS
All: 2-3-3-3-4-5-7-9-9-10-13
Road: 3-7-13
Home: 2-3-3-4-5-9-9-10
(This is definitely a team to watch because all the roster building is paying off. It's true that the schedule hasn't been brutal lately. But, they are scoring A TON of runs considering the ballparks they've been in. We're seeing an early red flag here for success. Pedro will be pricey, but the rest of the rotation may not be...and we're talking about a possible 90-95 win team if all of this isn't a red herring. We've got to pay attention to this...because it's hard to reach 5 and beyond in this park that often)

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
All: 1-2-2-3-3-3-5-6-6-7-7-10
Road: 1-3-6-7-7-10
Home: 2-2-3-3-5-6
(The exact opposit of consistency, lol. Any total is as likely as any other it seems...though 3 is a bit too popular)

WASHINGTON NATIONALS
All: 1-1-1-2-2-3-3-4-4-5-7-9-12
Road: 1-2-2-3-3-4-5-7-9-12
Home: 1-1-4
(Much like Florida, this offense is in big trouble unless they run into soft pitching or friendly conditions. Then they explode like everyone els. Look at how long it takes to get to 5 as you scan across the all games lineup. And, this isn't a home heavy schedule. It's likely to be WORSE at home!)

NL CENTRAL
CHICAGO CUBS
All: 1-2-3-3-4-5-6-7-8-11-16
Road: 1-6-7-11-16
Home: 2-3-3-4-5-8
(Funny, the only time they CAN'T score is when the wind is blowing out in Wrigley. Otherwise their fine. Fantastic road numbers, with four of five games at 6 or higher. That won't continue...but it's a good sign.

CINCINNATI REDS
All: 1-1-3-5-6-7-7-7-8-8-9-11
Road: 1-1-3-7-8-9
Home: 5-6-7-7-8-11
(A median of 7 th is deep into the season is astounding. Part of that is ballpark influences and great weather (a lot of wind blowing out games). But...they do have some home run hitters here and they had been healthy until Griffey tweaked something again the other day)

HOUSTON ASTROS
All: 1-1-2-3-5-6-6-7-8-8-8-10
Road: 1-3-8-8-10
Home: 1-2-5-6-6-7-8
(I think I warned you about their bad road offense last year...and they scored 10 and 8 after that. Oh well, it's a 104 park here. Overall a great start offensively to the season. Time will tell if it's legit)

MILWAUKEE BREWERS
All: 0-3-3-3-3-3-4-4-5-5-7-8
Road: 3-3-3-4-4-8
Home: 0-3-3-5-5-7
(That's an extremely quiet line. It takes forver to get over to 5, and only two games have made it past five. This is definitely a team to go against with real pitching. Look at Unders once their rotation settles down.

PITTSBURGH PIRATES
All: 2-2-2-3-3-3-5-5-5-5-6-6-7-9-9
Road: 2-2-3-5-5-5-6-9
Home: 2-3-3-5-6-7-9
(To me, this is very much a weather based team. They score when the wind is blowing out, and don't otherwise. The numbers you see above can be retro-fitted to the weather)

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
All: 0-1-2-3-4-4-4-6-8-8-9-13
Road: 1-2-4-4-4-13
Home: 0-3-6-8-8-9
(Pretty weak for what you'd expect. Edmunds has been hurt. Pujols was kind of quiet until hitting 3 homers yesterday. The road numbers in particular are a concern, because those are the best indicators for true offense. Still early)

NL WEST
ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS
All: 0-1-2-3-4-4-5-5-5-5-7-12
Road: 1-2-4-4-7-12
Home: 0-3-5-5-5-5
(Getting to 5 that often is good. But they're not getting past that often)

COLORADO ROCKIES
All: 0-2-3-4-5-5-6-10-10-10-12
Road: 4-5-6-8-10-10-12
Home: 0-2-3-5-8-10
(Goofy year in the Mountains)

LOS ANGELES DODGERS
All: 0-1-3-3-5-5-5-6-6-8-8-10-13
Road: 3-5-5-6-6-8-13
Home: 0-1-3-5-8-10
(That's a great road line. Their home park just kills scoring...so remember that the next time they go on the road. Some LA and Over tandems are going to make some sense in the right environments)

SAN DIEGO PADRES
All: 0-1-2-4-4-4-4-4-6-7-9
Road: 0-2-4-4-7-9
Home: 1-4-4-4-6
(When I first started playing with this stuff a few years ago, I thought all teams would look like this. There would be a million 4's and the other stuff would fall randomly on either side. MOST of the sport ISN'T like this. That's why I think it confounds some computer models. The typical Vegas line is projecting a 5-4 game...but 5's and 4's aren't as common as you might think given those projections.

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS
All: 0-1-1-2-2-3-5-6-6-6-12
Road: 1-1-2-2-3
Home: 0-5-6-6-6-12
(Tough road parks so far for SF...but they have established that they can't score in tough road parks with the current version of Bonds in the center of the lineup)

AL EAST
BALTIMORE ORIOLES
All: 0-1-1-3-3-4-6-6-6-8-8-9-16
Road: 4-6-6-8
Home: 0-1-1-3-3-6-8-9-16
(As JJD pointed out, they killed Tampa Bay pitching like everyone else has, but have mostly struggled against other staffs. Notice there's only one 4 in the full season line, in star contrast to San Diego. This is actually great news for handicappers...if a team ALWAYS scores 3 or less vs. good pitching, and ALWAYS scores 6 or more vs. bad pitching, it's very easy to make decisions)

BOSTON RED SOX
All: 0-2-2-2-3-4-4-4-5-5-6-7-14
Road: 2-2-4-4-5-7-14
Home: 0-2-3-4-5-6
(Like St. Louis, a much slower offensive start than people expected. There's been only three games over 5 even though they've played a lot of games in Fenway. Ronbets warned us about this up in the MESS HALL. Definitel offensive problems so far.

NEW YORK YANKEES
All: 1-1-2-3-4-5-9-9-9-10-12-15
Road: 1-1-2-3-4-5-9-10-15
Home: 9-9-12
(A more extreme version of Baltimore. There's only one 4 and one 5 on the list..but three 9's and three double digits to go along with a pair of 1's. For now...the combo of Yankees and Over...or just Overs when they face soft pitching should be automatic. Also, Overs when Randy Johnson isn't on the mound will make sense too. Haven't looked it up...but I'd bet it's about 67/33 that direction.)

TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS
All: 2-3-4-4-5-5-6-6-6-7-7-9-9
Road: 2-4-5-6-6-9
Home: 3-4-5-6-7-7-9
That's patterned distribution showing a definite ability to hit bad pitching. This will be worth remembering when they're big road dogs against the back end of contender rotations.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS
All: 2-2-3-4-4-6-6-8-8-8-8-13
Road: 2-3-4-8-8-13
Home: 2-4-6-6-8-8
(Another team to take as a dog vs. the back end of contender rotations, as most of you did against Wells the other night. Remember to consider side and total tandems in those kind of spots. If the critical number is 5 for the whole game (or 3 for the first five innings), a team that scores 6 or more this often is very valuable.

AL CENTRAL
CHICAGO WHITE SOX
All: 2-3-3-3-4-4-5-6-7-7-10-13
Road: 3-3-4-5-7-13
Home: 2-3-4-6-7-10
(Up and down so far....but when you chart it out it looks smooth because there are as many ups as downs)

CLEVELAND INDIANS
All: 0-1-3-3-4-4-5-7-8-9-9-11
Road: 0-1-4-4-7-8
Home: 3-3-5-9-9-11
(Probably better than the skeptics think but not as good as their fans hope. Another time will tell team)

DETROIT TIGERS
All: 1-2-3-3-3-3-5-5-7-9-10-14
Road: 3-3-5-7-10-14
Home: 1-2-3-3-5-9
(Scoring faded badly of late...which also seemed to me to reflect the wind not blowing out any more. Four of their home games have seen 3 or less.

KANSAS CITY ROYALS
All: 1-1-1-2-3-3-3-4-5-5-7-11
Road: 2-3-3-5-5-7
Home: 1-1-1-3-4-11
(Median of 3 is a sign of a horrible offense. Explosions will happen, but will be rare)

MINNESOTA TWINS
All: 0-2-3-3-3-5-6-6-6-7-8-13
Road: 0-2-3-3-6-13
Home: 3-5-6-6-7-8
(Definitely a home road split. I think this happens every year where Minnesota scores at home early before the AC is turned on in the dome...then things calm down a little. Road median is 3, Home median is 6)

AL WEST
LOS ANGELES ANGELS
All: 1-2-3-3-4-4-5-5-5-5-8-9
Road: 2-4-5-5-8-9
Home: 1-3-3-4-5-5
(5 is the most common number, but only two games have topped it)

OAKLAND A'S
All: 2-2-2-3-3-4-5-5-5-6-6-9
Road: 2-2-3-5-5-6-6
Home: 2-3-4-5-9
(Oakland is traditionally a slow starter. For some reason Billy-Ball takes three months to get rolling. You can see the offense has a lot of 2's and 3's...and no double digits games yet.

SEATTLE MARINERS
All: 0-0-1-2-3-4-4-5-6-6-9-10-11
Road: 1-2-3-5-9-11
Home: 0-0-4-4-6-6-10
(Man...most teams don't start with 0-0-1...because shutouts aren't that common. This is definitely a team that struggles vs. good pitching. That's big to know because half their games are in a pitcher's park.

TEXAS RANGERS
All: 0-1-2-2-4-4-5-5-6-10-11
Road: 2-4-4-5-11
Home: 0-1-2-5-6-10
(Lower than you'd expect for this team. The pitching is doing well on the road though. For now...just plan on taking Millwood on the road, but going against him at home. I'd bet that would work out okay on its own as a general approach. Loe looked good yesterday on the road. Listened to much of the game on radio during a long drive. Lousy first 6 innings followed by a dramatic final 3 innings.

I probably won't be able to put in comments every day. We'll see what time allows. If you've got comments based on what you've seen in these lines...please share them. I'm trying to catch a lot of indicators...but there's no way I'll catch them all. Every piece you find helps us solve the puzzle!

Default MLB "Score-line

These numbers are updated through the complete schedule of games played Tuesday April 18.

NL EAST

ATLANTA BRAVES
All: 2-3-3-4-4-5-5-5-5-6-6-7-9-11-14
Road: 3-4-4-6-7-9-11-14
Home: 2-3-5-5-5-6
(Still only three games below 4 runs heading into the series finale in New York. One of the keys to Atlanta's longstanding glory is consistency of scoring. Everyone talks about the pitching (jusifiably so), but people missed that the offense kept putting consistent runs on the board in a way that allowed all of those guys to pile up wins. They were a complete team not just a pitching-heavy team. Focusing on consistency helps you see how the top teams get the job done. It's not by average 6 a game...it's by getting past 3 a lot of the time)

FLORIDA MARLINS
All: 0-1-1-2-2-3-3-5-5-5-9-11-12
Road: 0-1-2-3-5-11-12
Home: 1-2-3-5-5-9
(Playing in Cincy is helping their numbers. When NOT in Cincy or other bandboxes, thise guys are having trouble scoring. A lot of numbers at 3 or less on the list)

NEW YORK METS
All: 1-2-3-3-3-4-4-5-7-9-9-10-13
Road: 3-7-13
Home: 1-2-3-3-4-4-5-9-9-10
(Things have slowed down a little vs. the Braves...still better than they've done in recent years).

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
All: 1-2-2-3-3-3-3-5-6-6-7-7-10
Road: 1-3-6-7-7-10
Home: 2-2-3-3-3-5-6
(Considering their home ballpark, that's an abysmal home scoring line. Having that many 3's in a high scoring year is a bad sign)

WASHINGTON NATIONALS
All: 1-1-1-2-2-3-3-4-4-5-7-9-10-12
Road: 1-2-2-3-3-4-5-7-9-10-12
Home: 1-1-4
(Things have picked up lately...but there will still be trouble in the pitcher's parks based on all the 1-3 numbers.

NL CENTRAL
CHICAGO CUBS
All: 1-1-2-3-3-4-4-5-6-7-8-11-16
Road: 1-1-4-6-7-11-16
Home: 2-3-3-4-5-8
(Relatively balanced)

CINCINNATI REDS
All: 1-1-3-5-6-6-7-7-7-8-8-9-9-11
Road: 1-1-3-7-8-9
Home: 5-6-6-7-7-8-9-11
(friendly conditions at home have helped a lot. They're not really this good. But it will take a lot of games in tougher environments to neutralize the chart. In good conditions, ask them to score with confidence. A median of 6 this deep into the season is strong. Only THREE games at less than 5 runs all season. That's GOLD if they keep it up for side and total tandem fans)

HOUSTON ASTROS
All: 1-1-2-3-5-6-6-7-8-8-8-8-10-13
Road: 1-3-8-8-10
Home: 1-2-5-6-6-7-8-8-13
(Wind keeps blowing out at home, and they got to play in Arizona. Another team that's not as good as its numbers ...but who will post good numbers in the right environment)

MILWAUKEE BREWERS
All: 0-3-3-3-3-3-4-4-5-5-7-7-8-12
Road: 3-3-3-4-4-7-8-12
Home: 0-3-3-5-5-7
(They wish they could play all their games in Houston with the wind blowing out. That's the impact of a bandbox with the wind...it turns a team with a median of 4 into somebody that can score 8 and 12 in back to back games.)

PITTSBURGH PIRATES
All: 1-2-2-2-3-3-3-5-5-5-5-6-6-7-9-9-12
Road: 2-2-3-5-5-5-6-9
Home: 1-2-3-3-5-6-7-9-12
(A team without a 4 on the list. That's supposed to be the most common number...but baseball scoring scatters more than people realize)

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
All: 0-1-2-2-3-4-4-4-4-6-8-8-9-13
Road: 1-2-2-4-4-4-4-13
Home: 0-3-6-8-8-9
(Still not as good as expected. Nothing wrong with a bunch of 4's if you've got the pitching. For now they're following the old Atlanta model rather than the recent St. Louis model)

NL WEST
ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS
All: 0-1-2-3-4-4-5-5-5-5-7-7-9-12
Road: 1-2-4-4-7-12
Home: 0-3-5-5-5-5-7-9
(Home schedule definitely helping to pad the numbers. Remember that when they visit the California stadiums in their division. It will be 4 or less, not 5 or more as a general rule)

COLORADO ROCKIES
All: 0-2-2-3-3-4-5-5-6-10-10-10-12
Road: 4-5-6-8-10-10-12
Home: 0-2-2-3-3-5-8-10
(Still a backwards season because the wind has been blowing in so strong in chilly Colorado)

LOS ANGELES DODGERS
All: 0-1-1-2-3-3-5-5-5-6-6-8-8-10-13
Road: 3-5-5-6-6-8-13
Home: 0-1-1-2-3-5-8-10
(Huge home road split if you line up the numbers. Remember that when LA goes on the road again)

SAN DIEGO PADRES
All: 0-1-2-2-4-4-4-4-4-5-6-7-9
Road: 0-2-2-4-4-5-7-9
Home: 1-4-4-4-6
(No explosiveness...basically St. Louis but on a smaler scale. They've missed the parks with the explosivness so far)

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS
All: 0-1-1-2-2-3-4-5-6-6-6-10-12
Road: 1-1-2-2-3-4-10
Home: 0-5-6-6-6-12
(Only two games at 4-5...feast or famine otherwise)

AL EAST
BALTIMORE ORIOLES
All: 0-1-1-1-3-3-4-4-6-6-6-8-8-9-16
Road: 4-6-6-8
Home: 0-1-1-1-3-3-4-6-8-9-16
(A surprising number of 0's and 1's for a team in the DH league)

BOSTON RED SOX
All: 0-2-2-2-3-4-4-4-5-5-6-7-7-7-14
Road: 2-2-4-4-5-7-14
Home: 0-2-3-4-5-6-7-7
(Still waiting for the explosiveness, though they've scored 6-7 the last two games. I'm probably expecting too much)

NEW YORK YANKEES
All: 1-1-2-3-4-5-5-9-9-9-10-12-15
Road: 1-1-2-3-4-5-5-9-10-15
Home: 9-9-12
(We've talked a lot about these guys already with superfluos runs warping the average)

TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS
All: 2-3-4-4-4-5-5-6-6-6-7-7-9-9
Road: 2-4-4-5-6-6-9
Home: 3-4-5-6-7-7-9
(The ability to get to 4 runs gave Boston a thrill until late in the series opener)

TORONTO BLUE JAYS
All: 2-2-3-4-4-6-6-8-8-8-8-10-13
Road: 2-3-4-8-8-13
Home: 2-4-6-6-8-8-10
(Let's remember to watch these guys EVERY time they face a lefty based on the posts in the game one thread of the Yankees series)

AL CENTRAL
CHICAGO WHITE SOX
All: 2-3-3-3-4-4-4-5-6-7-7-9-10-13
Road: 3-3-4-5-7-13
Home: 2-3-4-4-6-7-9-10
(Probably what "balanced" is going to look like this year)

CLEVELAND INDIANS
All: 0-1-3-3-4-4-5-7-8-9-9-10-11-15
Road: 0-1-4-4-7-8-10-15
Home: 3-3-5-9-9-11
(A wide range of possibilities whenever they take the field)

DETROIT TIGERS
All: 1-2-2-3-3-3-3-3-5-5-7-9-10-14
Road: 3-3-3-5-7-10-14
Home: 1-2-2-3-3-5-9
(Median is now 3...as the team has landed on that number five times. In a high scoring year in the DH league, that's not very good. It's cool they've got a guy hitting homers...but the team as a whole isn't doing much consistently)

KANSAS CITY ROYALS
All: 0-1-1-1-1-2-3-3-3-4-5-5-7-11
Road: 0-1-2-3-3-5-5-7
Home: 1-1-1-3-4-11
(A disaster. They've only made it past 4 runs four times...and they got the perk of facing some Yankees pitching. Buzz reported in the MESS HALL they've got som injuries too)

MINNESOTA TWINS
All: 0-2-2-3-3-3-5-6-6-6-7-8-13
Road: 0-2-3-3-6-13
Home: 2-3-5-6-6-7-8
(Another team that hasn't landed on 4 yet. Those of you who like playing "team totals" should be able to do something with a team like this)

AL WEST
LOS ANGELES ANGELS
All: 1-2-2-3-3-4-4-5-5-5-5-8-8-9
Road: 2-2-4-5-5-8-8-9
Home: 1-3-3-4-5-5
(They lack the "explosion" games other teams are seeing. Probably a shade low all things considered)

OAKLAND A'S
All: 2-2-2-3-3-4-4-5-5-5-6-6-9
Road: 2-2-3-5-5-6-6
Home: 2-3-4-4-5-9
(These guys look like the Angels every time I do this)

SEATTLE MARINERS
All: 0-0-1-2-3-4-4-4-5-6-6-6-9-10-11
Road: 1-2-3-5-6-9-11
Home: 0-0-4-4-4-6-6-10
(Can you tell I always run out of gas by this point on the list? lol)

TEXAS RANGERS
All: 0-1-2-2-4-4-5-5-6-7-10-11
Road: 2-4-4-5-7-11
Home: 0-1-2-5-6-10
(Not as big as the numbers we've seen in past years)
