Nostromo's #s look right. I only have a partial DB (missing some late season games) on this computer and it shows 55.6% last season (up until March 17th - I guess I got drunk on St. Paddys day and haven't sobered up since).

Some games are missing, but here's my data for the last 7 seasons: Season games OTs ties OTtie% 95-96: 1066__185__126__68.1 96-97: 1066__200__134__67.0 97-98: 1066__202__153__75.7 98-99: 1107__211__156__73.9 99-00: 1098__250__140__56.0 00-01: 1169__260__146__56.2 01-02: 1230__268__149__55.6

See PMcK's post, just divide OTs by games. Looks like the rule change (1 pt for OT loss) had the effect of increasing the number of games that actually go into OT. At best, there is only a very slight decrease in games that end in ties. I think the whole idea of incenting teams to end regulation in a tie is stupid ... undesirable things start happening when the games are not zero-sum.
