Default NFL lines for years '71 & '70

Anybody got this data in ANY form, like an old Gold sheet or Kile Rote Yearbook? I've got every Sporting news going back that far ("Modern Era of the NFL") so I've got analysis, etc. so looking for the lines to go with 'em. If you need money, shoot, I'll even pay for it!!! Better yet, I'll give you my 2002 NFL totals picks for free!!!

Sorry. Just have 'em back to "72. Recently found a Sports Eye Betting Guide for 1977 on ebay that had lines from 72 - 76. You might want to keep an eye out there.

Thanks rabbit, I have 3 Football Actions and 3 Kile Rotes that have info back to '72. Got them all off Ebay...I think that the mags all start their line info about then ('72).

KOTS:

This is one of those dumb questions we used to be able to PM.

Why do you want gambling data from more than a generation ago ? How can it be remotely relevant ? Am I missing something or is this just firming up huge databases ?

I don't think it's a slam-dunk that it's not relevant. I wouldn't mind having another 10-12 years of results for my pet methods, and I think I could make the necessary mental adjustments in terms of how heavily to weight them. I've always wondered if there might not be huge trends out there whose wavelength is so long that we can't notice them with our pathetic little 19-year databases. Also, just about everyone who has a DB starts with 1982-1983, since that's when the online data services started up, so anyone who finds something in pre-1982 data would have the field to himself.

That said, I certainly don't see enough value to spend not only the time collecting the paper data, but the humongous effort of datapunching 12 years of logs.

Well, I'm part researcher and would like to understand the "statistical nature" of the game and how it has changed over the years. AND I want to find the Holy Grail that explains everything in the NFL (sorta like the E=MC^2 of foots). I now have 30 years of Sporting News and getting the OCR installed, so who knows?

Did the LVRJ publish lines back then? You could just order it on microfilm from your local library
if they did. I'd call LVRJ and ask. Of course if you're in Vegas it's a lot easier to just
hit the local library.
