| I have NCAA data from 1986 through 1996, but never really wrote a good NCAA database manager. I could probably dump the data into Excel and get some answers, especially now that the end of the preseason has left me with a little free time. But it would be a chore, so I'll wait and see if anyone else can step up or if you feel that older data like this might not really be helpful. Not that I begrudge you -- in fact, I've wondered about the same thing myself, and there's no reason not to try middling college foots even though I don't handicap it. If no one helps you out, I'll try to IM something to you in a few days. Will say I've heard that there's no single number that lands often enough in NCAA to be a profitable middle all by itself. FWIW.

| Count Zero Thanks for the response!!! I was just thinking about my playing the best numbers in Football, as I have done with some of my plays in the Football Field. Would give me a bit better idea of what numbers to shoot for!!! I mean, 1.5 points must be better if the game is lined at around a pick, as compared to 37.5. Dingle |

| CZ, as I'm going to be basically doing analysis this season vs any betting, I can take that on (College db in excel) if you send your data to me. I can do the analysis and then let folks know how it falls out and then send excel sheet to you. Just let me know. BTW, I'm still working that data I told you I'd send; hopefully I'll get some time this weekend. Things have really been hopping in the last few weeks and to top it off, my hardware guy has gone missing (with the home network being tweaked by some sort of gremlin in the wires...hope it ain't another virus.) |

| Sounds great, KOTS. I'll send the info on disk to your physical address, since one of the big bottlenecks I was worrying about was collating 165 separate files (15 files per CFB season x 11 seasons) into one for import into XL. Do you still live at the same fashionable SoCal address?

| ...well, actually it's Tijuana Norte...so I guess you could call it "fashionable"...after a fashion. Umm, this is old CSW data isn't it? Doesn't matter, I'll grind thru it even though it sounds like it'll take a bit of time. Will it be ascii flat files (text) or ?? |

| Yup, flat ASCII. If anyone here knows a way to send folders via the net as attachments, that would save a lot of trouble.

| Actually, I'm taking a shot at getting the info myself, since with 500-odd games per year I think I'll only need to look at a few years to get fairly representative results. Dingle, if you're out there, can you help me get clear on what you want? Is it: a) a list of possible margins of victory from 0 to, say, 30 or so, with a percentage-of-occurrence over all games regardless of the line for each, or b) something like "when the line is 2 to 4, the fav wins by exactly 3 n percent of the time; when the line is 3 to 5, the fav wins by exactly 4 n percent of the time, etc. There's a third possibility, namely a) except done for each line. In other words: when the line is 1, show the percentage of occurrence for each margin of victory from dog by 30 to fav by 30; same for when the line is 1.5, 2, 2.5, etc. I'm afraid that one's a little too much work for me right now. If you have Excel skills, I'll send you the data and you can give it a try yourself. Thanks for the file transfer reminder, AV2. Guess I brainlocked there.

| Count Zero Yes!!!!! What you have stated as above, would all be useful data to look IMO. Will IM my e-mail to you. Do you have total lines as well??? Is there much data for them??? I know that College Totals are quite a new thing. Thanks Dingle |
