PITTSBURGH -- A 15-year-old girl is in trouble for posting nude pictures of herself on the Internet.

Police in Pittsburgh haven't released the name of the teen. Authorities charge that she sent explicit photos to people she met in online chat rooms.

According to investigators, the teenager also posted pictures of herself performing a variety of sex acts.

Police won't say how they learned about the girl, but add they found dozens of photos stored on her computer hard drive.

She faces a number of serious charges, including possession of child pornography.

State police have charged a 15-year-old Latrobe girl with child pornography for taking photos of herself and posting them on the Internet.

Police said the girl, whose identity they withheld, photographed herself in various states of undress and performing a variety of sexual acts. She then sent the photos to people she met in chat rooms.

A police report did not say how police learned about the girl. They found dozens of pictures of her on her computer.

She has been charged with sexual abuse of children, possession of child pornography and dissemination of child pornography.

Police said they are trying to identify all the people who receive photos from the girl.

So, let me get this straight, they are charging her with sexually abusing herself by willingly posting pics of herself on the internet. Get Real!!

She is 15 years old and I'm speculating that they are striving to protect her from herself, and not looking to lock her up as punishment. I'm amazed there isn't a more relevant law though. Statutory sexual cyberjinx?

Having daughters myself, between them and their girlfriends, I have witnessed a lot of drama. I realize men enjoy looking at (and more) young, perfect bodies, but I can't help thinking of all the examples I have seen through the years of young ladies with low self esteem debase themselves in all sorts of ways "looking for love" and attention. Their self value seems to be totally wrapped up in their looks and sexual attraction. Maybe that is time honored, but with the advent of the internet and the proliferation of porn available, it just seems to get worse and worse.
