VALENCIA -- Parents of a 17-year-old girl were arrested late Friday after deputies checking on a raucous house party found "numerous underage drinkers" -- including the daughter -- and a hired stripper, authorities said.
Phillip and Kathryn Nowlin, both 47, were being held on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and delaying a police investigation, deputies said.
Their daughter also was arrested on suspicion of underage drinking, reports said.
Both adults were at the home in the 25000 block of Chimney Rock Road where the party took place, although it was unclear Saturday who hired the stripper or what the party was celebrating.
Deputies who arrived at the house about 10 p.m. Friday found several empty cases of beer strewn across the back yard and about 300 people, including underage drinkers, both inside the house and by the pool, according to police reports.
On Saturday, a neighbor who refused to give his name said he called deputies after the party spilled out into the street and fighting had broken out over parking.
"I've lived here for 20 years. This is usually a quiet neighborhood and I wasn't about to let any of these punk kids destroy my property," he said. "They were starting a riot over on the corner and picking on a truck driver. I called the sheriff's twice and they brought in helicopters. They did a terrific job."
The family posted $1,000 bail and was released Friday night. |
