Great trade for the Hornets. Unfotunately, Lynch will be out for 2 to 3 monthes.
As far as the Hornets moving, where are they going? Louisville? Pitino already said he didn't want an NBA team in Louisville, and the community will listen to him. For the Hornets to move to Louisville, they will have to pass a referendum to build an arena with all public money. Not gonna happen.
The Hornets say they are losing more than a million $ a month. If that is true, then that is nothing but bad management. Let me give you an example. Last year, the Hornets put up a big curtain aound the upper parts of the upper deck, closing it off and not seeling tickets to those 4000 or 5000 seats. Most of the year the Hornets weren't selling out, but on the few occasions they did, the Hornet management would not take down the curtain and sell those seats when their was a demand for them. 5000 seats at $12 each is $60,000 not including the money that would be spent inside the building. If I'm losing a million a month, I guaran-damn-tee you I'm doing whatever I can to lessen that.
Also, here is a story about one of my trips to the Hive last year. I took my daughter to a Friday night game vs. the Bucks. Knowing they were having attendence problems, I figured I could walk right up and get any ticket I wanted. Well, the game was not sold out, but all of the $12 tickets were sold out. But not really, because that curtain was closing off 5000 more $12 seats. The cheapest available ticket at the box office was $35. I'm not paying $70 for 2 tickets to a regular season game between the Hornets and the Bucks. I don't consider that a good way to spend $70. Now $24, yeah I'll do that. Apparently so would have the thousand others standing outside wanting a $12 ticket, not willing to pay $35 or more for a ticket. The bottom line is that NBA tickets are over priced, and their overpriced because Kevin Garnett is making 120 million dollars. Ufortunately, the only way the price will come down is if we stop going. |
