| Taking a couple of inconsistent players both as heavy favorites in a double in the opening round sounds like a recipe for disaster but nonetheless, Marcelo Rios has shown very little form this year since his win in Doha in January. His season claycourt record of 1-3 is hardly inspiring either but to me he seems attractively priced at $1.40 against a player i do not rate very highly at all Sargius Sargsian from Armenia. This will be sargsians' second claycourt event this year and allthough he beat Schuettler in Casablanca, he is at best limited on this surface and more suited to faster courts, believe Rios might be able to start something going for the year with an easy win here. My second leg is Hicham Arazi over Wayne Arthurs, Arazi blazed his way into the final at Monte-Carlo a fortnight ago, before predictally bowing out to Portas last week, can expect him to bounce back, and Arthurs will be all at sea if he can't finish points off on his serve. Taking Arazi/Rios double for 1 unit @2.01 with Stan James. |

| 1-0 +.4 units Arazi pulled out leaving me with a single on Rios who saluted. Like Ulihrach over Schalken tonight with 1.90 @ Interwetten clearly the wrong price, Ulihrach has been in very solid form this season and is better suited to the claycourt surface, despite Schalken's good performance in Monaco, he is clearly more at ease on faster courts, most places have opened Ulihrach at around 1.70, so the price should be taken. 2 units @ 1.90 Ulihrach |

| AV, I noticed Surreysports changed a tennis rule to official "after one complete set", how far did that match go? It seems they are related. TA Thanks for infobetting. [This message has been edited by The Actuary (edited 05-02-2001).]

| 2-0 +2.2 units Jiri Novak upset Thomas Enqvist yesterday and certainly has the game to go all the way this week. Arthurs doesn't have the consistency from the back of the court to trouble Novak and will have to serve very well to stay in it. Ulihrach scraped past Schalken ,and things don't get easier against last years French Open Semi-Finalist Squillari, however the Aregentine has been below his best for a long time, and i really believe that Ulihrach is in the midst of a breakout year. Morrocan El Aynaoui should have to much cunning from one -dimensional German Thomas Behrend and the $1.45 is good value. 3 pts Ulihrach @2.25 1 pt Novak @ 1.57 1 pt Novak/El Aynaoui @ 2.20 |
