| Yesterday 1-2 -$238 Ouch, took it on the chin with the losses by Yanks and Cards. August: 28-13, +$965 on $100 wager/side Two straight losing days, going to cut down the number of plays per day: Cards -138 This is a rematch of a game on 8/13 at St. Louis where Bud Smith bested Elmer Dessens 3-2. While Dessens seems to have the Cards number as he's 2-1 vs Cards this season and pitched 20.1 innings and allowed only 6 runs, this is must-win game for the Cards and I think they'll find a way to win. Cards went into Cincy looking for a sweep to get back into the Central Division chase; now they're looking at trying to salvage a split before moving on to three tough games vs the Cubs at Wrigley. Bud Smith has pitched a couple of good games of late and I think he'll keep the Reds bats in check today. |

| Cards shat the bed again. On the night card, adding: Yankees/Rangers Over 12 (even) This is a fade on Hitchcock who has nothing and my belief that Yank's bats wake up after "they played their worst game of the year last night" (NY Post). Torre had the team skip batting practice today to get their heads together. Usually Torre's wake-up calls have the desired effect. |
