YTD record 176-169-6 +77.46 units.

Padres +191 (5 units)
Atlanta has lost 6 in a row at home. Since the all-star break they are 7-12 at home, against the likes of Balt,TB,Mon,Cincy. Since May 30 they are 13-21 at home. The Braves have scored a lowly 15 runs in their last 7 home games. Maddux has a not so good 5.30 ERA in his last 3 starts. Meanwhile, San Diego has a nice road record of 33-26, and are 8-3 when Tolberg starts. Tolberg has a 2.66 ERA his last 3 starts. SD is also playing well, winning 7 of their last 10.

Cardinals -167 (5 units)
The Cards are on fire winning 12 of 13. Kile's #'s since June 18: 83.2 IP, 71 H, 19 BB, 64 K, 1.94 ERA. Not to shabby! Over that span he has not allowed more than 3 ER's in any game. And if that's not enough, the Reds are 19-45 at home.

Bluejays +130 (5 units)
The American league has not been kind to Rick Reed. Since joining the Twins Reed has thrown 19.1 innings with a horrific WHIP of 2.17 and an ERA of 7.45. The Twins spirits have got to be broken as they just can't seem to win a game. They are 2-14 last 16, and 10-29 since the allstar break. The Jays are 13-11 when Loaiza starts. Loaiza has pitched better lately with a halfway decent 4.01 ERA in his last 5 starts. I don't expect Reed to pitch as bas as he has been, and Loaiza is certainly not going to shut anybody down, but the Twins just keep losing, and there offense has been offensive.

To each his own.....

1-2 on Tues. 2-2 on the week. 1 play,listed
pitchers:

Oak -160(2 units)
Dave Burba will have to prove that he is improved. In his last three outings before getting run from the starting rotation his era was 12.34. He has pitched 126 innings, allowed 162 hits, and 89 earned runs. A few Oak hitters have nice numbers against him and the A's pen has an era of 2.77 their last 10 games. I'll take a hot Oak team at home, with a descent pitcher and good bullpen over a shaky Dave Burba and a Cleveland team that has managed just 9 runs in their last 5 games.

Yesterday 1-1 -$140, if only SF could have given a couple runs to AZ.

Month of August: 27-11, +$1203

Expos -108

I actually like Montreal's chances tonite with Vazquez on the mound. He's 2-1, 0.75 ERA and averaged 8.0 innings pitched in his last three starts. While Giants bats have been hot, I think they're due for a letdown tonite. Estes hasn't been pitching well of late either with an ERA of 6.46 in his last three.

New York Yankees -178

Now that last night's batting practice is over, the Yanks can get back to business. Mussina has pitched well in his last three, 1-1 2.05 ERA while Oliver seems to be falling apart (0-2 8.64 ERA L3).

I also like the Over 10 in this game. Arlington averages 11.8 runs at night.

St. Louis -160

Splurge's Cards are on fire: 9-1 L10 while Kile is 2-0, 1.23 ERA L3. Cincinnati is 19-45 at home and Davis is just an average pitcher.

Heels --

I actually like ATL tonite, I just won't play the big chalk after losing on AZ last night.

Maddux won 2-1 vs SF last time out and looked strong.

Maddux is the guy who rights the ship, kind of like Clemens for the Yanks. Atlanta lost a tough one last night and needs this game to stay in the playoff picture. Maddux is also 9-1 at home at night. Braves are 18-8 this year when he starts.

Also I think he'll be out for a little revenge after losing to SD 7-1 earlier this year.

Like Yzerman, I like the chalk tonight. However, I have a "posting jinx" going on, so I will try to buck it tonight. Playing several parlays to avoid eating the chalk. Here they are.....

Braves-Cards
Braves-Seattle
Braves-Cards-Zona
Braves-Cards-Zona-Seattle-Oakland

If the Braves are winning, I will come back with a Seattle-Oakland parlay.

Splurge --

Looks like your Cards shat the bed (is that the right terminology?)

They just couldn't get any hits tonight.

LOL, Superbook. I listened to the damn game. Take away the 2nd inning, and the Reds had nothing. Oh well, nice losing night here.

Unfortunately, I am watching your Yanks losing right now on Fox Sports Southwest.....WHOA....they just scored. Go Yanks.

But college football starts tomorrow night.
