As goofed up as I think the R and A is-- I think they are genius' for playing this event at a Lake course. Mickelson said the run up shot is not all that necessary-- Its more target golf. I am thinking this might make this event pretty handicappable.

I think I may try Darren Clarke--he seems to be playing good and he finished horribly yesterday. So he might be my big play.

Anybody have any info on this golf course lets post it.

I never do much good in this event so I went through all 156 entrants today at work and made a scratch sheet. I am dividing the prospects into A,B,C. and am showing my comments.

The idea is to hopefully find some match ups where I can get A vs. C but they will be few and far betweent.

I like Darren Clarke and Stuart Appleby and I may get suckered into Phil--because what I have read I think his scrambling is going to be a plus.

The course is a links style course and out of bounds comes into play on 10 holes. It looks like their are bunkers to prevent the typical run up shot. I think players need to play target golf.

I will revise this list tonight and tomorrow and hopefully format a betting strategy.

Please add your comments.

Darren Clarke A Playing good but final rd collapses are a neg
Stuart Appleby A His game ought to be perfectly suited for this course
Phil Mickelson A Seems prepared-- short game should be perfect for this course
Ian Poulter A Love his game and a threat
Tiger Woods A Always a threat and will look to play against
Padraig Harrington A Makes sense here--compact swing helps conditions
Jim Furyk A
Vijay Singh A
Angel Cabrera A A guy who just seems hot right now and plays good courses well
Retief Goosen A Not real hot on him-- seems in a down spot
Luke Donald B Great player-- but maybe just too popular
Paul Casey B A great summer in Europe-- great target golfer
Geoff Ogilvy B Only negative is he just doesn't seem like a two major winner in a year
Robert Allenby B Steady not playing really good but could be competitive
Tim Clark B
Adam Scott B Not a huge fan- but gets in position he could knock down the door
M.A. Jimenez B I want him to win a major-- time is running out--
Chad Campbell B Tee to green he could be right there
Ernie Els B Something seems wrong with him but can't eliminate
Michael Campbell B Just not a great summer--missing cuts
Sergio Garcia B Nope-- but you never know
Lucas Glover B Maybe a touch over his head right now but not a total surprise
Ben Curtis B Former champion, won again he could do it
Chris DiMarco B Maybe distracted, such a tough competitor-- tough year
Thomas Bjorn B
David Howell B Very consistent and quality iron player
Tim Herron B
Peter Hedblom B
Peter Lonard B
Tom Lehman B Loves European golf
Scott Verplank B
Henrik Stenson B
Colin Montgomerie B Top ten last year, great US Open, maybe
Carl Pettersson B
Rory Sabbatini B
Mike Weir B Great competitor-- could sneak and bit you
Bernhard Langer B 100 years old and gets a top ten last year
Davis Love III B I don't know why but I always eliminate him
Trevor Immelman B Good summer would probably be a surprise
Bo Van Pelt B Showed a lot in qualifying for this event
Lee Westwood B If not now probably never
Jose Maria Olazabel B Has been on the improve--making cuts
Aaron Oberholser B
J.J. Henry B
Mark Hensby B
Nichlas Fasth B
Zach Johnson B
Barry Lane B
Steve Elkington B Here is a guy that could do some damage--long odds
Kenneth Ferrie B
Stewart Cink B Seems to play well week in and week out, just not a huge fan
K.J. Choi B
Bart Bryant B
Stephen Ames C
Bradley Dredge C
Kenny Perry C
Todd Hamilton C
Jeff Maggert C
Hunter Mahan C
Paul McGinley C
Graeme McDowell C
Brett Quigley C
Ted Purdy C
Tom Pernice C
Fred Funk C Probably not-- but a guy who can hit it straight can't eliminate
S.K. Ho C
J.B. Holmes C
Rod Pampling C
Greg Owen C
Mark O'Meara C
Nick O'Hern C
Fred Couples C Has been working very hard on his game
Mark Calcevecchia C

Tiger may like this place more than the par 70 or seaside links courses. I find most British Opens very tough to cap because of the haphazard field and weird conditions and bounces.
Will look for cut and other props when they come out.

EARLY MATCHUPS
Cink+100overAmes
Cink+153overAppleby
Harrington+100overGoosen

Cink is in good form of late, at least as good as opposition, so like him at dog prices. Not sure Goosen is over his long slump but even if he is Paddy has been playing well.

PROPS
Nick Dougherty -130 MISS CUT
Chad Campbell +120 MISS CUT
Vijay Singh T10 +160

Majors are tough tourneys to end MC streaks in for first two props. Singh may not contend but I 'd say T10 is at least a 50-50 chance so +160 is a good price.

I'll try Furyk again (33-1 e/w), also Chad Campbell (199-1).

Will do a write up tomorrow. A bunch of guys I like to win.

Clarke being one of them. And David Duval also. Yes David Duval.

Dont expect anything out of Phil, Els, Harrington or Goosen.

Amazing how much I agree w/ your A-B-C lists. I would only change a few players.

Betting an A vs.C is fairly rare, but I found an answer for that problem. The solution is in the 3-ball daily bets, where you often see an A in a threesome with 2 C's. Getting 2.30 to 2.50 is the normal odds. I've been just killing the book with these, and I have also been playing 2 and 3, three-ball parlays, for odds around 6.50 for the 2, and 15-1 for the 3. Plus, and I can't believe this, on a 2 man tie---I win---money back plus half of the normal win. On a 3 man tie---I win again---money back plus one third of normal win. This is a nice little perc for an otherwise unbettable golf site.

Every week I rate 4 or 5 guys who will do well, not necessarily win, but do well and play over their usual game. I also cap up 4 or 5 guys who will play poorly, not your C guys, but A guys who struggle at a certain course, and have shown signs of fatigue, disinterest, or any of a multitude of problems. This is where you can find an A vs. A, grab the dog, when your guy should really be the favorite.

This year, I'm up 8.80 units, AND HAVE NOT HIT ONE OUTRIGHT. YET. Up 30 units throwing out the outrights. With that being said, I hope I didn't put the hex on myself.

I did not steal your pick Buzz. I bet this 4 weeks ago. Darren Clarke to win 33-1 GG. I spent a few hours today reading some European golf betting forums and found this out. The Euros and especially the British Islanders absolutely HATE Clarke. They think he's the biggest folder since the invention of the Chinese laundry. Horrible attitude, not a nice guy, distracted w/ the wife health issue, and just not a competive closer. They all fade him at Betfair before the 3rd or 4th round. So now I'm not too keen about my selection, to say the least. But I bet him, and I'll root him, and that's that.

I know you didn't steal my pick.

Lets get Darren Clarke in this week. Hell I may have stole your pick but it made sense. Clarke has had two collossal folds in the past two weeks.

The guy I respect is Stanley over at Tour-Tips and he is -60 units on the year on outrights. I am probably down on outrights but have made up for it picking these winners on Friday and Saturday night.

I just like having the action. Darren Clarke is my main play, I like Chad Campbell at boxcars. I like Stuart Appleby and Phil Mickelson. I think Phil is a threat this week big time.

Lets get working guys.

Like Sergio over Paddy on matchups.

Like Duval, Clarke, Glover, D Howell, C Howell, C Campbell, and Sergio on futures.

Of the top five think only Tiger has a chance

I took Paddy over Retief.

I am sure betting a lot of Irish guys--probably have no chance in this tourney.

Will let them play a day and see if there is anything else out there.

Lines be a changing, Tiger just dropped from +450 to +300. Was
going to bet a little at 450 thinking he wouldn't gowinless in majors
this yr. Has he ever not won at least 1 major as a pro? Can't remember.
Was also going with Howell over Furyk but that line just moved 30 cents.
Suppose the late moves are right? Give me a ring Buzz, playing any
hardball this yr.? you're ole pards, Toto

Dont think Tiger will win tomorrow. Think either Sergio or DiMarco

Lots of pressure on Sergio tom., coming off a 65, 36 on the back nine and
now in the last group with Tiger. I took Els -135 over Sergio for tom. rd. We'll
see. Gl Toto
