Default Its U.S. Open week--Winged Foot--

It doesn't get any better any this. Maybe the best course in the US Open rotation. Love Bethpage but Winged Foot is just a stud golf course.

I hate to be square but I am thinking Tiger Woods +500--little worried he was sick during practice this week.

Other injuries are Jim Furyk.

Mickelson should also be a good chalk play--this course is perfect for his short game--if he keeps the ball around the fairway he should be in there.

Lets hear some opinions.

Two best plays for me will be Luke Donald and Rod Pampling. I'm also going to toss 50 bucks on David Duval. He could very well shoot 87, but at 35,000 -1 I couldn't resist.

Playing several guys in futures. Going to lay off the interactives- haven't been treating me well past two weeks.

I am laying off the big names. Can't see Tiger close to being in it with the layoff and his erratic driving. Ernie looks shot. Even Goosen looks awry. Can definitely see VJ doing something. His putting really impressed me last week. Phil is purely the one to beat. Has the mental game down. Is real focused and prepared. Would not be surprised in the least to see him win, but not betting that way. Here is who I am taking..

Chris DiMarco- yeah a bit crazy considering he has played poorly most of the year. But has shown subtle signs of late. I really expect him to play well.

Bo Van Pelt- perennial contender- refuses to win-Know that doesnt inspire confidence but hey at 100 plus to one worth a shot

Ted Purdy- guy is as straight as Rambo. Has the right temperment. Live 200-1 shot

Ben Crane- I really like this guy's game. Of the young guys I fully expect him to win majors. Has not been healthy much of the year but playing well of late. Another guy whose temperment and patience should fit well

David Toms- Guess he is one of the names. Surprised he has not won an US Open yet. Thought he would last year.

I have to agree w/ Aly here. Tiger's layoff since the Master's has got to be the longest idle period since he turned pro. That makes for a great unknown. Will he be sharp enough to win the Open? I don't think so. Tiger looks and acts like he only wants to play 10 times a year, maybe less.

Vijay, Goosen, and Maxwell getting divorced, this can't be a good thing. Then again, maybe it is. Singh wins last week w/ one spectacular round, a win is a win though I guess. Goosen? This is the one tourney where he really shines. If you're going to get down on Goose, this is the week to do it.

Mick is the class of the field. Does well in grade 1 stakes races. Should go off the favorite, but he won't.

My pick? The guy I took 3 weeks ago at 80-1. Arron Oberholser. 67-1 now and I really feel pesimistic about it all, right now. He shot 2 great rounds and 2 crappy rounds last week. That's no way to win the Open. Anyone except maybe Tiger, will shoot their way out of the Open with one bad round. But I took him and that's that.

Tiger has been practicing during the 9 weeks--- this just makes too much sense for him to win for Earl on Father's Day---Johnny Miller crying about his dad---NBC and the sappy music it doesn't get any better than this. Are you kidding Tiger is a lock.

I think Mickelson could play well but his aggressiveness could kill him--he is now favored over Tiger in match ups-- consider me interested.

I got one for you guys how about Fred Funk. Keeps it in play all day long and could be right there on Sunday-- he played competitively at Shinnecock until the ridiculous hole killed him. I love his game and he could be the 2006 Hale Irwin when he won at Winged Foot over my buddy.

I am going to look for some plays with Donald as top European.

Both VJ and Goosen are getting divorced? Who is Maxwell?

Tiger doesn't usually play well on par 70 courses except Firestone. Singh and Phil are really confident going in, this could be a slugfest.

Seeing Tiger at +550 now. Watched the show on ESPN today and he said he didnt come back until he was ready to win. Color me in, he could win by 4-5 shots.

I watched both Phil and Tiger being interviewed for their press conferences and actually came away impressed. Both look ready and the impossible course should suit both of them, I might just have to be a chalk eater here, because other than a guy like Adam Scott it doesn't seem like anyone else is playing that great.

The 3 short list i came up with were Scott, Mickleson & Toms. Not sure whether Toms will be long enough on this course and I think Scott has a much better chance at similar odds so will be giving him the swerve in the outrights but may play him in a matchup or two.

Scott @ 29/1
Mickleson @ 7.8/1

Choi over Love3 +122 I love to fade Love, Choi is a mid-packer here and that will be enough.

Weir over Love3 +106 Weir improving nicely and way better than the first 4 months of the season.

Funk over Leonard +120 Fred's accuracy as pointed out by Buzz earlier, makes this dog very live. Leonard has treated me fairly well this year, and most weeks I like to back him, but this week, I'm asking him to fold.

Scoring props 280.5 what do you think.

Surely the winner is under par. I think graduated rough helps scoring.

Think Pinny has lean on Tiger as well. They have moved from +525 to +425 right now. Still some 500+ out there. Numbers have stayed the same on most the rest. This just sets up too perfect for him, father's day etc.
