Bell Canadian Open
Don't know much about this Shaughnessey course, and couldn't find out much either. The PGA last visited here in '78 when it was a par 71. This time it's a par 70, with 2 par 5's. Fairly straight forward, hardly any dogleg on any hole, not too narrow, medium sized greens, large bunkers, very little water. They let the rough grow, so that can be a little iffy. The hard deal here is the tree-lined fairways. These are not your typical, eastcoast, pipsqueak, hardwoods. These are real trees, conifers, 150 footers, and taller. It wouldn't be a good idea to play forest ranger at this track.
Straight hitters will have an advantage here, straight and long even better. Vijay comes to mind, but no, he doesn't seem to have last years form. Funk is too short for a par 70, 7000 yarder. I'll go with the local boy, Weir, last years 2nd place finisher, and a Canadian who really wants to bring it home for the hometown crowd. I realize Weir hasn't done squat this year, but I'm taking him anyway.
Weir to win 29-1 GGods
And just for fun.......
I took Rose to win 41-1. 5 pounds to win for me, AND, 5 pounds to win for Alysheba. GGods
I didn't bet this, but I like it---Mahan 201-1. Match-ups to follow.
