Default Buick Open

Here we go again. Another -20 or better tournament. This course is way too easy, and really takes the fun out of it. There will be no penalty strokes, one must birdie to gain on the field. All the par 5's are a cinch, so -12 or better right there. Distance and putting again. Who does that profile fit? Tiger of course, Vijay also, if he wasn't so off right now. Vijay is the defending champ here, so he may come out of it this week, but I doubt it. Woods looks like the walkover choice here, I never bet Tiger though. So, other than Tiger and Singh, who did I cap up for this week? In order---Furyk, hotter than a 3 dollar pistol, Perry, pretty damn hot himself, Verplank, chocker of the week last go around, and needs/will some reciproscity, Sluman, getting better every week, and Kelly, whom I think is starting his summer streak. Perry and Kelly are taking the week off, so there're out.

I'm not taking Woods or Singh, so I'm going with---

Furyk to win 15-1
Sluman to win 51-1

Another birdie fest this week - Does anyone know if VJ is coming back with the broom this week after his shambolical putting display at the British? He'd probably be my play if he was but I'll probably skip this week again - protect my winnings!

Sluman fyi is 80/1 at Betfair.

Don't have a ton of time this week- hopefully can do a little capping tonight but I am playing Verplank this week. If Goosen is in the field I would take a flyer on him----because of his play Monday night.

Hopefully back with more

Didnt see it live but saw that VJ buried Tiger yesteday.

Him and Sergio are two guys who will not back down from Tiger. Will make the PGA more interesting now.

VJ was just awesome while Tiger did well to score 70 (played like a 74) VJ could easily been as low as 60. IF VJ's putter stays hot the impossible could happen and we could have a challenge for player of the year.

Putting is the only area I see that Tiger is consistently better than VJ and if VJ narrows that gap he shoots lower than Tiger - period!

Valueman.

VJ has been the best player the last two years (2003-2004). I have said this consistently.

VJ continues to be the best ball striker in the game but has the putting demons.

However, there is almost nothing that could happen the rest of the year that would leave me to consider VJ as player of the year. The ONLY thing that could do it would be for him to win the PGA in a runaway, and win at least three other tourneys (including today) while Tiger wins nothing. Then, maybe. But even then.

I am not one that is often in position to defend Tiger, but with two majors and a second in a major he is the player of the year.

Alysheeba - That was what I was refering to. VJ winning the PGA plus a whole host of other tournaments is a real possibility the way he is playing. Still Tiger will probably get POY as M O'Meara did but I could see VJ winning the money list by $2-3 million by the end.

Basically if VJ putts well he wins. Tiger has to putt well to contend.

I agree, but it has been that way for years. VJ is the best ball striker the game has ever seen. EVER.

But his putting is mediocre
