Default Jean Van De Velde

Anyone follow his performance at the French Open? It had something for everyone.

First of all I love the guy. Think he has a great personality. Has been through hell the last five years (and living with the British Open collapse only part of it). Got divorced, has had multiple knee injuries/surgeries. Been relying on a medical exemption to play. The works. Wasnt even sure if he would walk normally again.

Anyway, with all that he played some great golf over the weekend at the French Open.

Now for the surreal. He hit into the water on 18 with a one shot lead. Not that impossible a thing to do, he ended up making a great bogey.

But then in the playoff he hits into the water again (unbelievable Remesy did too). Jean stumbles to a triple, just like in the Open and loses to a double bogey. Just amazing that it ended like that. He played so great (just like he did in the Open).

But it really was a positive story in the end. He earned a bunch of cash, is all the way up to 21 on the money list, qualified for the Open, and has his card for 2006. Hope he can stay healthy, guy is a true character.

A second major meltdown choke job now added to his credentials. At least this one was in the French Open and not a major or of enormous brain freeze proportions.

He seems an affable enough guy but he is building quite a repertoire!

I did watch it- I do like his flair a lot. I thought in the playoff it looked like it was in his head and he was going to hit the ball into the drink. Sometimes you just get these mental hurdles and it takes forever to get over.

Speaking of blow ups, Thomas Bjorn struck again. Guy is still a real bad head case, worse than Jean. Has so much talent too.
