Like the small field, hate the strength of it. But see some value as VJ's consistency says he's a lot more likely to place than NOT. Freddie is a stretch but weather is supposed to be good so I'm expecting his back will be loose and he plays well at Muirfield so T10 at these odds has some value IMO. Also considered very small plays on Rose and Andrade for T10 but just not enough odds.

Singh T5 +150 ( 2 units )
Couples T10 +550

In keeping with my tourney favs and fading semi-cold players:

Rose-110 ov Ogilvy
Couples-110 ov Campbell
Sluman-130 ov McCarron

First let me say, Eaks almost blew it for everyone by playing so well last week. He's still under the radar, but rising. I didn't back him last week but I did this one. 81-1 SIA. That's off from 101-1. I was looking through the US Open qualifiers and saw that Eaks shot a 64, won his group by 4 shots. Well done for a 53 year old.

Furyk, that's my guy this week. Last 4 tournaments in red figures, pretty hot for a month now. He's completely healed from wrist surgury and just needs to win one to prove it. This year, so far, won 1.5 mil; missing only 1 cut, with 2 2nds. He won this one in '02, and never missed the cut here so far. Also has a 2nd and a 4th. 16th in driving accuracy helps keep the doubs and trips away. Muirfield is one of those tree-lined deals with a lot of water, especially around the greens. The whole thing looks a little contrived to me, not enough to be a trick shot course like Pasatiempo, but a man-over-creation thing for sure. For a lot of pros, I think, this week is an Open tune-up. Not really trying to win, just trying to get on their game. I don't believe Furyk sees it this way, he will try to win it.

Els won last year, but he doesn't seem to want to compete this year. He must have a new girlfriend or something going on. Woods will be in the woods a lot this week, and he's rusty. Singh is a machine, he's the competition here. Hoping for a bad week from him. Big fight with his caddy or a fan, or something to throw him off. Lefty is MIA.

Furyk to win +17.13 Down around 15 now, still worth it.

Furyk over Els +130 They got the wrong guy favored here.
Ames over Zack -105 Has Johnson done anything at all this year?
Campbell over Zack +104 Both these guys need to get going, I don't know why Campbell is the dog.
F Jacobsen over Parnevik -108 My favorite guy to fade, Love3 my 2nd favorite. WSEX all others at Pinny.

I saw a 3-ball bet for round 1 at SIA that had Nicklaus in the threesome. He has no chance, none, zero. This will be like a nostalgic sucker bet on Nick, and provide a juice free or BETTER, for the other guys. They hadn't posted the odds yet, and I can't remember who the other guys were, but I remember they were good. If they are both over +200----scalp time for some, not me, I'll pick one.

Love and respect for our crew, GL---Tommy

WSEX has Toms and Nicklaus together in a R1 matchbet, for those that think Nicklaus has "zero" chance of winning.

Toms currently favored by 3.5 shots, w/-127 on the moneyline.

So what I really meant to say is that VJ is WAY OVERDUE for one of his GIVE UP tourneys and this is a perfect spot to fade him - yeah that's what I meant! OUCH!

Buying O'Hern, Kaye and Tiger here. Yes Tiger. Words I dont usually say.

Like seeing the no bogey round, and VJ was real bad and Ernie not much better. Think Ernie still in it.

Really like O'Hern. Been following him, guy has some serious game.

Been following O'Hern all last year on the European tour. Has an excellent game and really putts well with the broom but he is not mentally tough in a finish - will place often but would need to post a score and others fall apart for him to win.

Didn't post my plays this week as they were very small but had a very small play on Bart Bryant who I mentioned in my St Jude post @ 390/1 at betfair. My other plays are nowhere but Bart wins me $30K - still unlikely but hey who knows!

Valueman. What a Finng Par at 18!!!

Wouldnt open the champagne yet but woudl put it on ice.

I bought a bunch of Bryant late in the round at 20, but nothing like the hit you are in for if Couples doesnt birdie

What guts Bryant just showed!

Thanks guys - Lost a lot of money hedging (or being a pussy whichever way you want to look at it) on sunday but ended up +22K so yes a very nice hit.

Driving accuracy is a stat I like when choosing a player but only if they aren't ridiculously short like the Funk's of this world and the course isn't super long. Bryant for me has been hitting it as straight as Verplank and is a few yards longer and is always hugely bigger in odds. He has been a winner which I also like and has been in reasonable form and his putting has been the only thing letting him down. Took an educated chance and got very lucky but that's me guaranteed to be up on the golf season.

Sorry guys I didn't post anything this week after my shambles last week - thought I keep a low profile.

Wow valueman, 390-1! Chris at Stanley's site also backed Bryant but only to finish T10 @ 25-1. Must admit he was not in my radar at all! That is one big score reminiscent of a guy I know hitting Curtis 500-1 in British. Most impressive. Remember to post it here FIRST next time will ya! LOL, just kiddin, outstanding score even after hedging!!!

I'm just happy to keep grinding it out with a few winning tickets:

futures: 1-1 +3.5 for week 3-4 +30.0 total

matchups: 2-1 +0.9 for week 7-2 +4.9 total

Very much a boom and bust week as Singh and Rose completely FLOPPED on me but Couples and Slu did even better than expected.

Congrats valueman! NICE SCORE!!! I don't contribute much to the forum, but I do read the posts once a week. When I read your post on Sunday morning I was rooting in Bryant. What a roller coaster. The ultimate SWEAT. Tee ball in the drink on 18, Freddie misses the birdie putt on 17, and then Bryant makes makes par from 175 yards. WOW, you certainly got your moneys worth. Again, CONGRATULATIONS.

Valueman- awesome job what a hit.

Aly- do we pull the plug on Todd Hamilton yet??? I thought the win in Florida put him above the rest but man he can't do anything.
