Default Hey JUDE! a.k.a St Jude Classic

This is my kind of field as the biggies are mostly resting up and a lot of the chalk doesn't impress me. So going hog wild with 2 futures/props. I've not found any value matchups yet but with this field they are bound to show up. I like the T10 niche and these are the best odds I could find for these two:

F. Jacobson T10 4-1
N. Price T10 2.5-1

Choi-125ovKelly;N.Price-105ovT.Clark both look solid and also like O'Hair+110ovGlover with one having made 7 cuts in a row on the big tour and coming off his best finish versus the cooled off Glover who has missed 2 cuts straight after wilting under the heat of the 2nd to last group.

After doing a debriefing of last week's contest, I came to this conclusion. How could I NOT have taken Kenny Perry to win? This was a no-brainer, every golf writer on the planet had Kenny. All indicators pointed to Kenny, I don't know how I overlooked them all. I guess I thought he wasn't hot enough. With that in mind....

No bullshitting around this week. David Toms wins this week, he's the favorite, everyone knows this is his course. 2 time defending champ, coming off a pretty good set-up week, and his LSU buds are going to be there. A hilly par 70, not as much as San Diego, and we all know what happened there, but enough contours to suit his game. To give you an idea how well he plays this tourney, last year he bunted it around the last round for a 2 over par, and still won by 6. I honestly can't remember the last time I played the favorite, but I can't see him losing this one.

For a mid-odds play, I also took a guy who loves this track. 2 time winner, Nick Price. Took him at WSEX so I could sell him off Sat. or Sun. He's going to finish 2nd, or somewhere high.

Toms to win 7-1 Pinny
Price to win 20-1 WSEX

Toms over Perry -123
Price over Love3 -110 I think Love is shot, off his game and getting older. Nick is hungrier, I don't exactly know why, but he is.

I'm going to get one more m/u, but I haven't decided yet.

GL-- With full respect to our golf bettors--Tommy

Tommyjay - Perry's previous win and his GIR stat on a course with small greens made him irrestible in the Colonial.

When Perry is this hot, I'm loathed to oppose him - he is simply top class when he is hot but the emphasis is not quite as much on hitting greens as they are marginally bigger than at Colonia. His much shorter price is obviously also a factor but no way anyone can go into this tourny without Perry as at least a saver.

With 14 fairways being narrowed and the greens being changed experience of the course isn't a big plus for me and that's why I'll swerve Toms. With driving accuracy as my focus the plays for me are:

KJ Choi - +3412 - Pinny
K Perry - saver + some profit - 9/1 - many UK bookmakers

Would have played Bart Bryant - win & top 10 but he seems to have pulled out.

match ups Choi over Estes, Choi over Love III, Perry over Love III

Like Maggert, JD, Leonard, and Lowery this week

Perry was unreal last week, much to my chagrin as I had plays on the other top finishers. Just amazing his performance. Know Toms owns this course and has been playing well lately, but taking a stand against him.

Like any and all fade plays against Davis Love

I make Toms and Perry both around +1200: am strongly short both those two (at -8.00 and -9.60), along with Leonard (-28.00) Jacobson (-44.00), Rollins (-95.00), and Atwal (-110.00).

Am w/Lehman (26.00), Ames (33.50), and Kelly (51.50), along with a whole slew of goofy strays like Byrum, Micheel, Senden and Faxon at 225.00+

With all 18 greens at Southwind entirely redone and replanted in bermuda since '04, past course performance should be interpreted w/great caution.

The course is still recovering from all the renovations, and was in pretty spotty shape last week, which adds a little extra randomness.
Possibly the easiest tournament of the year so far - aside from Tucson - to win.

I also took---

Price over Lehman +117

Nice to see, when I wake up, that Toms is 4 shots back already. Make a chump out of me. Get off the par train David.

Talk about Hero to Zero. Been flying of late and got over ambitious with Choi +3. All my matchups are doomed as well. At least I stepped back on stakes this week thinking that I was due for a bad one. Hopefully he can get his act together and make the cut at least so i can hope for a miracle on the weekend.

Grabbing some Glovers in the interactives and some more Leonard

You can buy Fred Funk at 1 right now. Which is real good value.

I didn't take anything pre tourney- may play Toms against some the rest of the way- its time for him to start playing good again.

"The look"?! That trademark prissy scowl of his, you mean?

(I may be a little bitter over being short the guy at 28-1, of course.)

Oh, meant to post a great McCord moment last week.

They were showing Richard Johnson. And McCord said "little Dickie Johnson". You had to hear it
