Just read on the official WGC site that the draw isn't confirmed until later today....they will then give out the brackets etc........perhaps this might be delayed because of the over-run in the Nissan.

I had to go with a Ryder Cup guy to win this match play deal. So I took Garcia to win at 26-1. I saw 29/1 after I bet it though, at Pinny. Tiger is or was the best match play player in the world, although you can't tell by his Ryder play. I'm betting he no longer is the best.

I took---

Herron over DiMarco 2.00
Couples over Lonard 2.10
Katayama over Singh 4.00
Howell III over OHearn 1.658

YTD a little more minus than last week, where I got screwed by the weather.

YTD, +443 - think we will limit our play at 5Dimes this week

No plays for the overall winner...weather and course conditions are going to be tough here. It is still raining like hell here, and I am about 150 miles northwest of La Costa. Weather reports indicate we could get another 4 to 6 inches through tomorrow. For those of you who have never been to La Costa (I grew up about 5 minutes from there), the course sits real low. There is a lagoon right across the street that separates the course from the Pacific Ocean. Now, that lagoon spans just over a mile to the ocean, but when it rains, everything in that area drains that way. This is going to be real ugly. Need someone who is long, but also straight.

Here are my first round plays - eating a lot of chalk here:

F. Couples over P. Lonard +105 (Pinny)
MA Jimenez over R. Pampling -139 (Pinny)
T. Clark over C. Parry -144 (Pinny)
L. Donald over Z. Johnson -140 (Pinny)
A. Scott over T. Immelman -170 (WWTS)
S. Verplank over J. Kelly -105 (5Dimes)
J. Maggert over P. Harrington +170 (SportingbetUSA) - stole this one from Buzz, really like it. Harrington just finished a tourney in Australia on Sunday afternoon and basically has to travel half way around the world. This thing had a ton of value if they were playing on Wednesday as that basically gave him one day of rest. Even with a Thursday round, I still think fatigue can play a part in this one. If Harrington happens to get past this one, I will double the bet against him in the second round as there is just no way this guy will have the stamina to play 36 +- holes per day through Sunday.

bitter thats why I was playing Maggert, Harrington's schedule is nuts. Wich they would have played this morning.

Guys we need to find a bookmaker that is going to be prompt with these matches on Friday. I will be looking to play against the older players after the first round. This course is going to be soaked and long. Lake LaCosta. Think I guy like Haas is in trouble in the middle of the tourney.

I like your Couples play however it looked like his back was giving him major problems at LA. I think damp conditions is going to be tough.

I bet we won't be able to get any money down for the 2nd round. I'm coming home tomorrow around noon, just in case I'm wrong.

Buzz, just got off the phone with my mom who still lives there, says the area around that course is still just a mess. Said it did not rain there this afternoon. Finally cleared out up by me late this afternoon (the little Bitters got to see their first rainbow, was pretty neat to see their reaction, but I digress) so hopefully we are finally clear. I think Pinny and 5Dimes will probably have lines up there pretty quickly. Unfortunately I have a busy slate at the office tomorrow. However, I do have a window from 12 to 2 PST (my secretary is awesome, always makes it a point to do everything possible to keep that window open so I can slip out and come home to get a few plays in - someone remind me to give her a raise) so I will get home and see what action is available. I will post what I do.

I understand it is still a mess there, haven't heard if they are going to try it or not.

I guess if they play today there is 36 on Friday.

So everybody work hard today and leave early.

I got a 12:10 central tee time for tomorrow so I may miss the 3rd round completely.

Guys, I think Couples over Lonard is a very good @ +113. Peter Lonard is a serious iffy putter at the best of times, and in a match play scenario this can be exploited by Freddie

God 18 is just killing me. Don't have a W on the board yet. Maggert loses 18 as does Clark. Help.
