I took Matt Gogel each way at 101/1 at golfinggods.com.

1. Gogel is playing well and he really needs a win this year. He worked hard on his game over the break and needs to "steal" an early season win.

2. He loves Pebble and Spyglass and won here a couple of years ago and should have won another time when Tiger came roaring by him as Matt shot 40 on the back nine.

3. Good tournament for him in Phoenix a top 30 finish points that he is playing good and more importantly serious.

I think he might be a good lunch money play.

That's a fair bet in my book too - if you're able to get an account with betfair he is 119/1 there for a small amount - less maximum commission = 113.5/1.

The other books haven't priced up in the UK but doubt if anyone else will beat that.

YTD minus 231.37

Gogel sounds good, can't find any price like you have, so I took Herron, my handicapped up pick, at 33-1. Tim is playing better than the books figure and he had a good week last week. Plus, he beat my guy last week rather easily. Stick with a winner. He played the Monterey courses well last year too.

Tournament picks---

Clarke over Weir 1.855
Herron over Kelly 1.99
Pernice over Sutherland 1.909 Pernice has won for me every week so far.
Gogel over Oberholser 2.10 Based on Buzz's capping skills. 1 unit each.

Last week, got killed in the 72 hole m/u's, I think 3-6. Made up for it in the dailys. Kissed my sister for a small vig type loss for the tourny. I'm ready to break out for a big one any day now.

GL to us all---I feel it, time to get down big.

Like Maryuma and DiMarco in outrights this week. Definitely one of my top five tourneys of the year. Heaven on earth. Was actually at Pebble (not playing unfortunately) a few weeks ago

I like Gogel in this event also. Also I like Phillip Price as a super longshot 201.00. Pretty good tier 2 Euro player who has held his own with the big boys. Finished T-17 here last year and this is his third start ( the old 3rd start of a layoff angle) at the ATT. Real good putter and pretty accurate of the T. Going to play him at 21.00 to be the highest finishing Euro also. Another super longshot play I will make is Frank Lickliter 201.00 he is driving and putting well and has played well there before.
A little Howell @34 and Petrovic @ 126 will round out my action.

I am looking at Tim Clark to bet each way.

I also think Lumpy Herron has a real good chance.

Interesting plays guys. Haven't been on the site in a while but now since the golf season has kicked off again will be keeping in touch

For the outrights this week I like:

Love (Even though most of the value appears to be gone)
Furyk
McDowell (As a reasonable outsider, +24000 if you can get on BF)

Love has a nice record around Pebble and a couple of good rounds in his last few tourny's indicate the game is there.
Furyk has been coming to the boil nicely over the last few weeks, and even though I may be chasing my cash from a few weeks back I also like him here.
McDowell is a somewhat under-rated player from the Euro Tour. I've actually had some money on him e/w at fancy odds to top the money list in Europe. He was brought up on links golf and Pebble in the US should be for him.

If you don't like McDowell e/w for outright I do think - McDowell -119 over Sluman (Pinny) for a 1st Rd. Match Bet is worth a pop

Also Guys, can somebody explain to me why everybody likes "Lumpy" all of a sudden. I know the scores have been reasonable, but honestly, how can a golfer that much over weight and out of shape win a tourny in the modern game!

DimeLine- Lumpy is very streaky and I like to ride him early in the year when he is fresh. He will get tired and not play as good eventually. However he usually does a good job through the Florida part of the year.

I'm thinking of going down to Monterey on Sat.---50 bucks to get in though. Or I might just wait until the Reno Open. WTH, I blow 50 bucks all the time.

I wouldn't say Vijay is in all that great of shape, and for that matter neither is Mick. If I remember correctly, Herron looks exactly like Nicklaus did his first 10 years, his 10 best years. Being a little on the heavy side is not a major problem if that is your natural weight. If the Lumper dropped 40, it would probably hurt his game. Stamina is more important, and Buzz is right, it's early and he's fresh. Fresh off 3 great finishes.

Herron is 8 shots off the lead halfway through the first round. Mick is 7 under and Tim is 1 over, so you're not wrong either DimeLine. Such is golf.

Lumpy smokes like a fiend too.

Dont think it an issue. He had a great year last year and off to a goof start this year. One of the top 40-50 players in the world right now in my opinion

Hey Guys,

as tempted as I am to go with McDowell over Sluman again for todays matchups I'm going to go with Westwood over Clarke -105 (Pinny).

If McDowell & Sluman were playing the Pebble Course I definitely would. Maybe something to keep in mind if Pinny puts it up again tomorrow.

I like playing daily matchups and just wondered if anybody had any good strategies for them?

i dont like the daily matchups as much, anything can happen in one day. Things tend to work out ove the course of 4 rounds. Here is who I took:

Choi v westwood
oberholser v gogel
lehman v herron

ober and lehman are my strong plays
