Default Buick

I'm a Tiger Woods fan but can't see why he's clear favourite for this over VJ.

Tiger +390, VJ +620 in early trading at Betfair.

valueman, if you look at the historic records at Torrey you will see why the odds are what they are...

Vijay has only played Torrey Pines 3 times since 1994...in '94 he finished in 61st, in '02 is finished T11, and '04 he missed the cut.

Tiger (remember, sponsored by Buick) '04 T10, '03 Win, '02 T5, '01 4th, '00 T2, '99 Win, '98 T3....also have to remember he knows this course inside and out from Junior golf.

Here's my picks for the Buick---

Luke Donald to win. 26-1

Tournament m/u's, 72 holes---

Howell ov. Maruyama 2.07
Rory ov. Daly 2.06
Leonard ov. F. Jacobson 1.87
Rose ov. Zach 2.15
Ober ov. Pettersson 1.926
Couples ov. Parnevik 1.971

Now I realize I have 4 or 5 dogs in this list, but I just like them to win, regardless. Sometimes it just works out that way. Last week I had 4 favorites. Luke to win is a value play, but he's live. This is his 4th Buick, last year tie for first, lose p-off, year before 7th, year before that 18th, as a rookie.

Howell won last week and he's going to win again. Leonard is better than an inactive Euro Fredrik. Rose played well last week and Zach is good for 2 good rounds and 2 bad rounds. Oberholser is a gamble over Carl. Carl can go really low, but so can Ober. Couples beats Parn., I always bet against Parnevik, I made a pile fading him last year, and he lost easily to Howell last week. Fred might be rusty, but I don't care.

YTD---ahead 175.30 Post my 3-ball parlays later.

GL to all.

I like Garcia a lot this week - he would have surely won or gone very close in the Mercedes if his putter was on but on those greens it is excusable.

The UK bookmakers I use are horrible with match ups having the tie option and the best match ups i see with garcia are -100 with donald and -120 with maruyama but you lose if it's a tie.

If you guys know of any better match ups with bookmakers you use let me know and outright prices best i can find on Garcia is +2500.

Thanks

Hey tommyjay -I like Donald too and garcia probably a bit more hence my delaying in deciding to do garcia over Donald in a match up but FYI there is a site called golfinggods.com that has Donald at +3000.

Here's a little parlay I like.

Luke Donald over Paulson and Kendall
Howell over Cook and Badds

Two, 3-balls pays 3.20

Sorry guys, I was gone most of the week so was not able to get any plays down. Will be back into it next week.

I think Tiger answered the question why his odds were set where they were...the guy owns that course.

Tommy, great call on Donald...he was there - just those two bad swings on 14 and 16, or he may have had a chance.

We will get 'em next week.

Not a bad week, EXCEPT---

My broadband connection went out Fri. PM. Just now got it back, Mon. PM. I had to call the guy out to fix it. No internet for three days, jeez, I needed tranquilizers. I couldn't get any bets down, third and fourth day.

Luke lost, I thought he was going to win there for awhile. Oh well, it was exciting.

Went 3-3 in the match-ups, down a juice hair. Won 1 of 2 small parlays, for a weekly win of 3/4 of a unit. Total win---146.40. Next week maybe I'll break out. Three weeks down, we should be able to handicap these jokers now.

Good luck to us all, next week, at the Hope.
