Default Illegal Drivers

Did anyone see them talk to Tiger about illegal drivers and he said he knew of one player for sure who used one?

Who do you think that player is?

My guess is Phil Mickelson

I think its Ben Crane.

The only reason I don't think its Mickelson is that Tiger said he spoke to the player about it. Tiger wouldn't bother talking to Mickelson.

I thought about that too. I think if it was Phil that Tiger would have no qualms about stating exactly who he was talking about. So it has to be someone else.

On a somewhat related note, Phil was right about one thing. Tiger plays with inferior equipment

I wonder how good Tiger would be with good equipment. Nike has ruined Duval and Tiger to an extent.

They need to something with Nike

You know I TOTALLY forgot Duvall went with Nike. Not one commentator brought that up in the whole controversy about Phil's comments. I know he has had some physical and emotional things too but am sure the equipment has not helped. Its bad enough these guys sell out all the time, but you would think the would draw the line on their very livelihood. Their clubs.

Remember when Tiger used to be a long hitter? With the exception of Daly was way longer than anyone. Not the case anymore. Over a dozen guys are longer.

I know part of it is be design. Going for more control. Which is smart. That is something Mickelson should do. But I have to think some of it is clubs. Duvall used to be a long hitter too.

At his level it's got nothing to do with the bull-shit equipment, he's just not playing his best right now.

When i was growing up learning the game of golf my father use to say "It's not the arrows, it's the indian." For years i believed that, but with the expansion in technology it is amaing what these clubs and balls can do. There is a diffrence between a set of nike forged blade irons, and the $199.00 set of Northwesterns u can buy at K-mart. Their is also a diffrence between Titleist pro V's and Top Flight XL2000's so equipment is very important. But remember noebody is holding a gun to Tigers head saying u must use the nike blades, it is clearly stated in his contract with nike that if he wants to use other clubs he can. If he fails to win the PGA champ. he will be back to his titleist irons next year....gurantee it.

Newbie here just thought I would chime in here...

I agree that there is a big difference in the equipment, however I don't think that there is that much difference between the types of clubs the pro's are using. They are using the top of each companies line of equipment and I can't believe there is that much of a factor. There is a signifacant difference between forged and cast irons as with the forged you have a lot more feel. Just as with the balls, you have a lot more feel with a Pro VI than you would with a Chop-flite( I mean Top-flite). I think Phil is more interested in his new baby than he is in golf and that is why he is struggling. I have no idea what happened to Duval other than to say he hasn't been the same since his injury and how many years ago was that?

Best Regards
Nater
