This weeks tourney offers some interesting propositions.

This is the last qualifiers for the British Open for those not exempt so you can typically expect good efforts for those on the bubble.

Tiger plays well here but you have to wonder about his form. I think he could easily win this tournament but will try to beat him on some outrights.

I will take the following outrights (to win only)

P. Lonard
M. Weir
B. Jobe

I like Furyk as well but it took him so long to win this year can't see him winning two in a month. Plus could he have a U.S. Open hangover.

Will look at the match ups later.

Chad Campbell +101 v. Phil Mickelson
Ben Crane -124 v. Woody Austin
Stephen Ames -102 v. Tim Herron
Mike Weir +192 v. Tiger Woods
Peter Lonard +102 v. Robert Allenby

My pick for this week is Chad Campbell.

Chad has very good driving and ball striking stats, as well as a very good GIR percentage. The course is setup so some par 5's are reachable by most players, whilst others are barely reachable. This plays well into the hands of someone like Chad, who isn't the longest hitter, but won't be disadvantaged by this. His first 3 round scoring averages have been outstanding, but he does seem to lack in final round performance. He's only been cut twice this year from 17 events, which is promising as far as consistency goes, but if he's going to be any chance here, he needs his putter to be working. Chad didn't play well at the US Open, but then again, not many players did. Hopefully he's erased that from his mind and can get back to shooting those low numbers. Currently he's paying anywhere from about $50-60 to win, and about $14-15 to place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Previous picks:
Jim Furyk - 1st (US Open)
Fred Funk - T4 (Buick)

Ben Crane does not start.

Furyk is not playing well today but still lucky to be +1, He has a major hangover I think.

Utsbet- I really like your plays. I took Campbell in alot of spots, hope he moves up the leaderboard today.

Woods shoots 63...Looks like he was getting a little tired of being out of contention every week.

One round does not make the winner. Woods problem is that he hasn't put together four rounds. Another 63 and he probably wraps it up but I am betting he shoots over par Friday or Saturday.

Tiger really played well, I turned it off after he had a 10 shot lead heading into 11.

Mickelson had three good rounds and a bad final round.

Mike Weir was right there most of the tournament and I would make him the no. 2 player in the world right now.

Furyk had a bad Saturday round sandwiched in between two 65's. My chart on Furyk is amazing he has missed one cut, won one major and 10 top tens out of 15 tournaments. I guess he deserved to be right there in the standings. I think Furyk has got to be a favorite in the British Open.
