WOW! Nice work Hartley. Correct on all 3. It was 'Jay' Ferguson. Rapper's Delight was ripped off from Chic's 'Good Times', so no where near being the first 12" single. Another Hint: This song went #1 Pop in 11/74, 8 months pre Hustle. The "45" version of course. The 12" version was more than 10 mnutes long. It was knocked out of #1 by Kug Fu Fighting(Karl Douglas). Other big hits that month were You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet(BTO), Tin Man(America), John Lennon's Whatever Gets You Through The Night, and more, but I'm saving them for later questions..........Benson, right girl, wrong song. |
