Matchbook Experiment: Day 2 <div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: Bucky
Nice going PA. The one thing about an exchange like Matchbook is the commission is on the net only. Mansion for example - the offers have the commission on each bet taken.

Yup - either way, I think that it's significantly cheaper than running your own local shop. Even if I could run a shop for $100/month, that would mean that my total profit on MB would be $5000 for the break-even point. So, really, I'm more than happy to pay 2%

No dreaded middles to worry about in baseball - I guess the total could change a hook.
Have you been doing anything special at post time? Covering anything that will break even or only lose a couple cents?</end quote></div>
The middles are definitely something that I have yet to figure out. So, yes, that's exactly why I only do o/u - the most I'm off by is a hook. Even then, if the action is balanced on both sides of the bad total, my risk exposure is minimal - a few dollars at most since the two matches cancel each other out.
As for post time, I have let myself be on one side of a game, but only rarely. That's only the case because I'm doing this part-time and don't really have all the available time to lay-off as I would like. Also, the money comes in REALLY late on games, so I don't want to lay-off something only to have it matched seconds before game time. I'd rather risk the few cents than have to scramble around like a madman at post. |
