 RE: Man Ordered to Pay Child Support on Kid that isn't even his
The child's welfare is more important that the father's problems.
This guy assumed the role of father, he legally can't abandon the kid.
He's not the first guy to catch this bad break. Sure, it's crummy. But what law would you propose in its place? You can't let the kid starve. You can't tell him, "The man you've called Daddy your whole life is dumping you."
I first read about these cases a few years ago. I was outraged, as well. But when you think about it, there's really no alternative. |
