Sideways is shaping up as a contender, although it's probably too small to win. Saw it and it was terrific. Becoming a major admirer of writer-director Alexander Payne (Election, About Schmidt). And his incredibly hot wife (plays the second female lead in Sideways).

Hope the voters don't feel they have to give it to Scorsese to make up for not giving it to him for Raging Bull, etc. His recent pictures have sucked compared to Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.
