RE:The Steroid Fallout People will still pack Wrigley. 40,000 drunks don't care who's on steroids. People will still pack Fenway. People will still pack Yankee Stadium. I would guess people in Clevland would love to go see an up and coming team like the Indians who are rejuvenated. Small market teams will continue to have poor attendance. People said they were finished after the '94 strike and I would guess very few stuck to that stance. Salaries have skyrocketed since then. Apparently so has steroid abuse. And the gap between rich and poor has gotten way out of control. That won't change either as the players union is too strong. The only place I could see this hurting is TV ratings, but what are you going to watch during the summer anyhow? WNBA??? Baseball is a regional game except for the Cubs, Red Sox, and Yanks anyways. Not to mention there is no better rivalry in pro sports today than Yanks/Red Sox. And last 2 years of playoffs far outdo anything in the other sports leagues. |
