Jared Paul's omnibus pre-trial was on Tuesday, Oct 21st. The prosecution offered a plea bargain that the defense found completely unacceptable. Prosecutors called for Jared Paul to assume complete guilt for the charge of Gross Misdemeanor Riot in exchange for probation, fines, and no jail time. The deal was turned down. The defense attorney moved for an immediate dismissal based on the grounds that Jared is completely innocent and no evidence had been presented connecting him to the charge described in the State of Minnesota's complaint.
The judge denied the motion stating that the pre-trial dealt strictly with the text of the complaint. He could read nothing in it that was immediately false or contradictory, so the case could not be dismissed at that time. He did however express disappointment that two months had passed since Jared Paul's arrest and the police had yet to present the prosecution or defense with evidence to back the charge. A "contested" omnibus pre-trial date was set for February 26th which, according to the judge, was an extended amount of time given so that all police evidence could be presented and the defense was afforded ample time to examine and prepare
