I was a big supporter of Wie at one time. But now that I've had a while to think about it----Here's what I think now. By playing in the men's tournaments, she by de facto, was saying--I'm already better than all you ladies, and I don't want to play in a minor league. The truth is that she is not better, by a long way, and now most women on the tour have a giant resentment toward her. Playing in the Deere Classic was a gimmick, the problem was that she took it seriously. If she just played that one tourney once a year, and had some humor about it all, she could have made all her money and kept everyone's respect. But no, it didn't turn out that way. |
